There was some consolation for Cloughaneely in Páirc Sheain Mhic Cumhaill today when they beat Red Hughs to win the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Intermediate Reserve Championship.
Red Hughs started strongly with the first two points of the game but once Cloich Cheann Fhaola got on the scoreboard they were the better side for the remainder of the half and were well deserving of their 0-10 to 0-4 half-time lead.
Red Hughs were well on top through most of the second half. While they were finding it difficult to find their range from play five converted frees had reduced the gap to the minimum, 0-10 to 0-9, by the end of the first quarter. It was the 50th minute before Cloughaneely registered their first second half point. The only point from play in the second period came in added time, a superb finish from Michael Mulhern that sealed victory for Cloughaneely.
