In conjunction with the County Youth board the Donegal Health & Wellbeing committee are hosting the above conference in the Villa Rose on Saturday 13th October from 9.30am to 2pm.
This conference is in the planning stage since June of this year and as part of the process we circulated a survey to ascertain the views of under-age players, coaches, clubs, youth boards and a number of different groups to help us put together a programme of activities for the day. We are delighted with the response as we received 95 responses to our survey from a broad range of clubs,Coaches ,under-age players male and female. The feedback resulted in the following four top themes
1. Balancing the Demands of Study & Sport
2. Mental health
3. Nutrition & Diet
4. Alcohol & Other Drugs
The above four topics will be covered in workshops of 45 minutes. A detailed agenda will be circulated nearer the time. Th guest speaker will be Jason Black and there will be an Question & Answer session at the conclusion with a panel of players which includes Michael Murphy, Jamie Brennan, Eoghan Ban Gallagher Declan Bonner and representatives from the Ladies county team.
The day starts with Registration at 9.30am followed by light refreshments followed by presentation by Jason Black and question & session with Jason.
Workshops will commence at 11.am and each delegate will have an opportunity to attend two of the four workshops. The workshops conclude at 12.30pm this is thenfollowed by a open forum with our forum panel.

Each club is asked to send four (4) under-age delegates.
We are asking clubs to select their delegates from age groups (14-16 )& (16-18 ) girls and boys. A fee of €40 per club is required this is to cover part of the cost of the light refreshments plus lunch for each delegate. Clubs are invited to also send on adult free it can be the Children’s officer or Coaching officer .
Donegal Creameries and O Neill’s sports are part sponsoring this event and each delegate will get a courtesy pack sponsored by O Neills.
Four (4) places will be reserved for the 40 clubs and clubs are asked to register for this conference by Thursday 11th October on the enclosed form. Clubs are also asked to please send cheque for €40 with the registration form.
