Donegal GAA would like to pay tribute to the late Dessie Kelly (RIP) of Castlefin who passed away on Thursday evening after a short illness. Dessie was widely known through out GAA circles in Ulster and further afield. In his own native Donegal Dessie served as Chairman & secretary of the Referees board a referee himself Dessie refereed at all levelSincluding a Donegal Senior Championship Football Final. He will be remembered for his kind words to players after a loss or a win, his passion for the GAA was not just on the field of play, Dessie was active in Scor for many years. Dessie was a member of Donegal County Committee, a County U21 Manager and the County under age registrar.
Speaking to the media earlier today County Chairperson Sean Dunnion expressed his sympathy to Dessie’s family and thanked them for sharing Dessie with the Donegal GAA community. He was a Gael in the true sense of the word a committed GAA person and a loyal supporter of Donegal GAA. Dessie will be missed around the grounds of Donegal and the County Grounds around Ireland.
