Senior & Reserve Mens Football

The Senior Men had no games this weekend but the Reserves had two matches. The first game took place against Muff on Wednesday evening and was a league game. A lack lustre performance from the Carn saw Muff win the game with a score of 4-10 to 3-16. Their next game was against Steelstown on Friday evening in the Philadelphia Cup. The Carn side were much improved from Wednesday evening but came up against a very strong side. The two matches in one week took its toll and the Carn men began to fade in the second half. A late scoring burst from Steelstown resulted in a bigger winning margin than the game reflected with the final score 5-16 to 2-09.

Senior Ladies Football

Training continues every Wednesday and Friday in Foden at 6.45pm.

Underage Football

Our Saturday morning coaching has now finished for the summer months.

GAA Fundamentals

GAA Fundamentals continues every Thursday evening in the Community School Gym from 6.15-7pm.

Under 8 Girls Football

The club hosted the Under 8 Girls Go Games Finals on Friday evening in Foden. We had teams from Carn, Malin & Urris taking part and was a pleasure to see so many children showing us the skills they have learned in training over the last few months. Thanks to our own club parents who helped provide refreshments after the game. All the girls were presented with their certificates and goodie bags after the game also.

Under 10 Girls Football

Our Under 10 girls travelled to Urris on Saturday morning for the Under 10 Girls Go

Games Final. Well done to all the girls-they really played some great football and were so well behaved.

Under 16 Boys Football

The Under 16 boys played Muff in Foden on Sunday evening. The team was Jordan McLaughlin, Patrick Monagle, Darragh Lafferty, Shaun Mc Laughlin, Mark Scott, Darren Donaghy, Antony Doherty, Lee Mc Laughlin, Donal Doherty, Padraig Mc Laughlin, Cormac Monagle, Lorcan Bradley, Stephen Kelly, Dylan Mc Laughlin, Darragh Mc Cormick, Will Quinn, Paul McCallion, and Adam McLaughlin. Carn started the game brightly and were first to score with a point from Darragh McCormick. Muff then replied with three points in quick succession. Lee McLaughlin then scored for Carn to narrow the gap to a point. Carn then missed a glorious goal chance after fine build up play, a chance that they would pay for as Muff went on to score 3:06 without reply in a six minute spell, to leave the half time score Carn 0:02 Muff 3:09. Carn started the second half well with Stephen Kelly finishing to the back of the net. Carn then broke forward again and this time Donal Doherty finished well to the net to close the gap once more. Muff replied again with a goal and a point. The introduction of Adam McLaughlin and Will Quinn added some pace to the Carn attack and it was not long before Will Quinn was causing problems in the Muff fullback line, after a fine ball in from Stephen Kelly he won the ball well to fire over a fine point. Soon after Will was involved again when he was involved in a good build up that resulted in Lee McLaughlin finishing to the back of the net. Then after fine build up play involving Antony Doherty and Darren Donaghy, it was Will Quinn’s turn to get in on the act when after turning his marker he drove the ball to the bottom corner of the net to narrow the gap to six points. The game became slightly fragmented for the final minutes, with both teams missing chances and the away team quite happy to slow the game down and defend their lead. But the Carn boys fought well to the bitter end and can be happy with the second half performance. On the day Antony Doherty and Darren Donaghy in defence and both Donal Doherty and Lee Mc Laughlin in Midfield as well as Darragh Mc Cormick, Stephen Kelly and Will Quinn were the stand out players for Carn. The boys can now look forward to the knockout stages of the league in two weeks time.

Under 12 Hurling

The Under 12 hurlers were narrowly defeated on Thursday evening by St.Eunans. This was a great game of hurling, where both teams showed great skill and determination. Eunans started the game strongly and scored 1-1 without reply from the Carn boys. Cian Doherty settled the backline and it was not long before Carn got on the score board with a fine point from Sean O’Donnell. Further points from Sean and Cian put Carn right back in the game. The Carn backs defended well, with great battling from Cian Doherty, Ben McDaid, Tiernan McLaughlin, Ben Clarke and Lucia Doherty. The midfield duo of Sean O’Donnell and Danny Diver began to take hold of the game and the half forward line of Ciara O’Donnell and Eoin Fowley put pressure on the Eunans backs. Carn led 1-4 to 1-2 at half time thanks to a great goal from Sean. The second half showed both teams put in some hard tackles. Continued pressure from the Eunans half forward line proved too much for the Carn backline and Eunans managed to score

two goals. Carn continued to pile on the pressure and were unlucky not to score a goal near the end when a great low ball in from Sean O Donnell narrowly went over the cross bar. Overall this was a great team effort against one of the top teams in Donegal. The final score was 3-3 to 1-5. Team: Liam Doherty, Ben Clarke, Cian Doherty, Tiernan McLaughlin, Ben McDaid, Lucia Doherty, Aaron Donaghy, Danny Diver, Sean O’Donnell, Eoin Fowley, Ciara O’Donnell, Odhran O’Donnell, Conor Lafferty, Conan Gibbons, Liam McWeeney.

Under 16 Camogie

Our Under 16 Camogie team travelled to St.Eunans on Monday evening for their first match this season. They only went up with 10 players but were given 2 to make it a 12 a side match. It was an extremely warm evening. The girls played really well and fought hard. A few of the girls are under 14 and really stepped up to the mark. The score ended Carn winning 3-3 to 1.3. The team was Rhianna Gallagher, Rori Doherty, Beibhinn McClure, Cliona Gibbons, Lainey Lyons, Megan Gallagher, Bethany Moore, Lisa Marie McLaughlin, Eimear O’Donnell, and Anais Doherty.

Underage Hurling

There will be no Under 8 or Under 10 Hurling until September.
