***Div 2 League***

Cloughaneely travelled to face Naomh Muire at the weekend. Our reserves team stole a last minute draw after they scored a goal in what was the last attack of the game before the final whistle! Final Score: 2-6|2-6

In the senior game Naomh Muire picked up some much needed league points after marginally defeating Cloughaneely in what was a neck and neck encounter. Cloughaneely were first out of the blocks with Darren Ferry converting a free in the 2nd min which was quickly followed by a point from Ciaran McFadden Snr. However Naomh Muires response of 2 goals within the space of 3 mins left Cloughaneely with a lot of work to do. Both goals were finished off by Patrick Gillespie; the 1st coming as a result of a Darragh White free dropping short and recovered by Gillespie, the 2nd was again from another ball dropped into the danger zone with Gillespie again rounding the Cloughaneely keeper to find the back of the net. The 2 goals were Naomh Muire’s only scores from play in the 1st half. Cloughaneely continued to gradually narrow the margin with further points from Darren Ferry, Shaun McGuire before Sean Yank Boyle converted a free in the 13th minute for the home side. Points from John McGarvey, Darren Ferry and Ronan Cannon saw Cloughaneely go 1 point ahead as the half time whistle blew:

HT Score: CCF: 0-09, Naomh Muire 2-02.

It was all to play for going into the 2nd half and Naomh Muire, just like the 1st half, had a strong start to the 2nd half with a free from Sean Yank Boyle which was quickly backed up by their 3rd goal in the 34th min, when Padraig McCafferty received a long ball in and managed to round Cloughaneely’s Shaun McClafferty. Cloughaneely again continued to knock of the points thanks to Darren Ferry, Martin McGuire, Mark Harley and John McGarvey; with Harry Harden registering another point from a free for Naomh Muire and substitute Adam O’Brien adding to the tally. The score was all level with a couple of minutes of normal time remaining. Naomh Muire were determined not to leave this game behind them and Robert O’Donnell stepped up to put the home side 1 pt ahead going into injury time, with Darragh White stretching the margin out to 2 points just before the final whistle.
