Under 14 Girls

Our Under 14 Girls played a tough match against Red Hughs last Tuesday evening for the first game of their season. The girls played reasonably well in the first half, they didn’t have a lot of possession but did force alot of the Red Hughs players to shoot wide. Rihanna Gallagher took her point well in the first 15 mins. There was a lot of hard work being done around the middle and half back area but they couldn’t get the ball through to the forwards. Jade Doherty played her heart out and got a point for her efforts midway through the game. Ciara Harkin and Elaine McLaughlin played well at the back and Anais Doherty had a good game at midfield. It was the basic mistakes that let the girls down and rustiness for a first game which saw the game end Carndonagh 0-02, Red Hughs 3-03.

Under 16 Girls

Under 16 Girls continue to train every Wednesday at 5.30pm in Foden.

Under 12 Boys

Unfortunately the opposition for our Under 12 boys did not field last Tuesday night. However the team took the opportunity to play a game amongst themselves. Their next game is at home on Wednesday 6th April against Buncrana.

Under 14 Boys

The Under 14 boys had to withstand a late Burt comeback to Win 7-06 to 6-04 on Sunday morning. Carn led 2-4 to 2-2 at half time after playing against the breeze with goals from Mark McLaughlin and Conor Lafferty. Carn got a good start in the second half with an Andrew Cunningham goal with further goals from Ronan McLaughlin, Cian Burke (2) and Will Quinn. Burt proved very dogged opponents and Carn had to dig deep to hang on for a deserved win.

TEAM Kyle Harkin, Josh Diver, Adam McCarron, Conor McLaughlin H, Conan Donaghy, Rory Lynch, Will Quinn, Paul Doherty, Matthew Lafferty, James Kelly, Andrew Cunningham, Mark McLaughlin, Cian Burke, Ronan McLaughlin. Subs: Ronan Doherty M, Darragh Doherty L, Paul McCallion, Conor Lafferty, DJ O’ Connor, Thomas Smith

Under 16 Boys

The Under 16’s played their second game of the season away to Moville on Friday evening. The team was Tomas Cavanagh, Patrick Monagle, Darragh Lafferty, Shaun Mc Laughlin, Donal Doherty, Antony Doherty, Conor O Donnell (capt), Darren Donaghy, Cormac Monagle, Lorcan Bradley, Dylan Mc Laughlin,

Jason Lynch, Jordan Mc Laughlin, Lee Mc Laughlin, Padraig Mc Laughlin, Darragh Mc Cormac, Adam Mc Laughlin, Christopher Mc Daid, Stephen Kelly.

With the cobwebs blew off in last week’s game, Carn travelled to Moville high in confidence, but also knowing that they always find it tough to come away with a result from the Foyle Siders. The game started with Carn being on top early on but missing a few good scoring opportunities, so it was Moville to draw first blood with a fine score from a counter attack. Carn then went up the field again but missed another scoring chance, but from the resulting kick out Conor O Donnell fielded and broke forward to blast a rasper to the back of the net. Another point followed by Lee Mc Laughlin after a good ball inside by Jason Lynch. After good work by Dylan Mc Laughlin the ball was then put through to Lee to finish well to the back of the net to put Carn in control. Moville then scored another point followed by a good point from Jason Lynch who was enjoying his playmaker roll in the half forward line. Moville then took control of this game for the remainder of the first half and scored 1:06 without reply to go in a point up at half time. Carn started the second half with sustained pressure in the Moville defence with points from Conor O’ Donnell and Padraig Mc Laughlin, Moville then broke up the field to score a point on the counter. Moville started to get a grip back in the game again but the Carn defence were holding out well, and Shaun Mc Laughlin was having a solid game, cutting out numerous attacks. The introduction of Adam Mc Laughlin, Darragh Mc Cormac, Stephen Kelly and Christopher Mc Daid gave a new freshness to the Carn team and they finished the game strongly with points from Lorcan Bradley and Jason Lynch and a further goal and a point from Lee Mc Laughlin to leave the final score, Moville 2:08 Carn 3:11. This was another good performance from the boys and they can now look forward to a home game against Burt next Friday evening.

Minor Hurling

The Minor Hurlers missed out on gaining 2 more valuable points as they made the long journey down to Ballyshannon last Thursday evening. The game was played in perfect conditions with little or no wind and it was Carndonagh who piled on the early pressure and were totally dominant over the home side being 0-2 to 0-0 up after 15 mins. Their dominance was not to be seen on the scoreboard though as a lot missed chances were later to be rued. The boys held out a strong Ballyshannon side well and will take heart from keeping an ‘A’ calibre side to 1 score after 18 mins. Carndonagh continued to battle although the luck wasn’t there up top and went into half time with a two point lead.

Half Time: Aodh Ruadh 0-2 Carndonagh 0-4

Carndonagh started the second as they did the first and kept pressing up on the Ballyshannon defence and got the goal they deserved 8 minutes after the break from Cormac Monagle. Ballyshannon were shocked by this and kicked into gear. They hit there purple patch and hit 6 points on the bounce to really stamp their presence on the game. Carndonagh replied well though with a score from Darragh McCormick, but it was to be Ballyshannons experience at a higher level of hurling and wit to come back from a losing position which prevailed

Full Time: Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon 0-13 Carndonagh 1-5

Team: Keelin White; Nathan McLarkey, Enda Callaghan, PJ Walker; Michael Doherty, James Monagle, Donal Doherty; Cathal Doherty, Anthony Doherty; Darragh McCormick, Conor O’Donnell, Cormac Monagle; Patrick Callaghan, Patrick Monagle, Adam McLaughlin.
