A GOAL BY Dillon Muldoon was the vital score as Four Masters overcame St Naul’s in a tetchy encounter at at Tirchonaill Park this afternoon.

Substitute Muldoon pick-pocketed Lee McBrearty, the St Naul’s goalkeeper, 11 minutes into the second half when he punched the ball from his grasp and into the net for what proved to be the only goal of the game.
The home side were 0-4 to 0-2 in front at half-time, with two Stephen Griffin scores for St Naul’s. Kevin ‘Cookie’ Gallagher’s Four Masters saw Karl Lacey pop over a first half 45, with Dillon Ward, Patrick Reid and Peadar Espey also on the mark.
There were a couple of flashpoints with neither side willing to give an inch but from two down, St Naul’s opened the second half impressively.
Brian McGroary, Cathal Lowther, Barry Rose and another Griffin free made for a 0-6 to 0-4 advantage for Donie McCole’s team.
But Espey’s point and Muldoon’s goal soon afterwards put Four Masters in control.
