*Seniors*
CLG BnaG 1-7 Naomh Brid 1-10
Na Galloglaigh will be bitterly disappointed with squandering a 6 point lead to lose to Naomh Brid in the Championship on Saturday night. The boys now have to wait and see on other results to know if their 1 win in 3 will be enough to see them progress to the Quarter Finals. The first half was a tight and cagey affair with both teams defences well on top. It was very much tit for tat during the opening period with points from Christopher Barrett, Cathal Mc Gettigan (2) and a beauty from a tight angle from Gary Merritt leaving the half time score 0-4 to 0-3 to Na Galloglaigh. Na Galloglaigh got off to a blistering start to the second half which saw them go 6 points clear with only 4 minutes gone in the half. Barrett added his second point in the first few second and this was followed up by a point from Tj Evesson, then in the 34th minute a good turnover in midfield saw a great team move involving Kyle Black, Barrett and McGettigan which ended with Cathal coolly finishing to the bottom corner. Unfortunately from there on in the only team that looked like scoring was Naomh Brid. They began to get on top in the midfield battle and brought the deficit back to 3 after 40 minutes, with 2 45s from their keeper. A crucial score came on the 43rd minute however as a mistake in the defence allowed county player David Walsh to play a neat one-two and finish past Sean Gallagher for a goal to level the game up. The Naomh Brid defence was on top and doing well, preventing our lads from getting back into the game, and on 57 minutes the Ballintra men were 2 points clear. A fine free from Merritt in the 59th minute gave Na Galloglaigh a glimmer of hope, but once again Naomh Brid responded well to score 2 more points to kill off the game. With Bundoran and Naomh Brid on 4 points each, the boys are now relying on other results to go their way to see them go through to the Quarter Finals as one of the best 3rd placed teams. Tonight was only the boys 3rd defeat of the season, and their first in 9 games with their last defeat coming against Bundoran on the 23rd of May. It also means that all 3 defeats have come at home while strangely the boys have a 100% win record on the road. Team: Sean Gallagher, Kieran Sheridan, Sean Black, Gary Merritt (0-2), TJ Evesson (0-1), Enda McHugh, Kieran Mc Laughlin, Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen, Pauric Curley, Christopher Barrett (0-2), Adam Serrinha, Kyle Black, Cathal McGettigan (1-2), Paddy Peoples. Subs: Darragh Black for Serrinha (42m), Dean Burgess, Barry McNulty, Paul Grier, Shay Durning, Gavin McFadden
*Reserves*
CLG BnaG 3-5 Naomh Brid 1-11
This result did nobody any favours and sees both teams joint bottom of the group with 1 point each. Na Galloglaigh will be disappointed with themselves as they never really got going today and left themselves with too much to do after a poor first half, but nevertheless they fought like lions to the bitter end. The first 20 minutes were very poor from Ciaran McHughs side which saw them waste a lot of possession and gift some scores to the Ballintra men, but in the final 10 minutes of the half they played much more like they can to level the game up, despite not scoring a point, through goals from Paul Fisher and James Whelan. With the score 2-0 to 0-6 the boys would have been happy to go into the second half with this scoreline considering the wind against them, but in the final few minutes Naomh Brid scored a goal to leave 3 points in it at half time, 2-0 to 1-6. The second half was much much improved from Na Galloglaighs point of view and they battled themselves back into the game with a huge boost from an Anthony Fisher goal. The game became very tit for tat and quite ragged as the game entered the final stages and by this stage Na Galloglaigh were hanging on desperately to a one point lead. A victory gave Na Galloglaigh some slight hope of advancing to the next round while a draw was also no good to Naomh Brid. This saw the Ballintra men launch a high free into the box in the closing seconds which ultimately fell to a Naomh Brid man, and his effort went narrowly over to level the game up. There wasn’t enough time for either team to get the coveted winning score as the game finished at 3-5 to 1-11. Attention for the Reserves now turns back to the league campaign which sees them sitting top of Division 3 and hoping to stay there for the last 5 games. Team: Gavin McFadden, Connor Jason Meakin, Barry McNulty, Eddie Boyce, Ryan Ferry, Paul Grier, Cormac Friel, Paul Sweeney (0-1), Anthony Fisher (1-0), Luke Trearty (0-2), Paul Fisher (1-0), Emmet Conaghan, Dean Burgess (0-1), James Whelan (1-0), Paddy Mc Carron (0-1). Subs: Cathal Diver for Ferry (HT), Ciaran McHugh for McCarron (45m), Shay Durning for Conaghan (52m)
*U16 Championship*
CLG BnaG 3-10 Buncrana 3-8
Our U16s have emerged from their Championship group after a thrilling encounter with Buncrana. It was a great display of score taking from both teams in a game played in slippery conditions but with good clean football. Na Galloglaigh were a credit to their families and Club the way they played tonight. It was a great all round team performance with a couple of exceptions. Conor Coll and Oisin Doherty were solid in defence, midfield workhorses Ryan Mcmahon and Connor Gormley controlled the game, while there was great work up front from Shane McNamee and Ryan Toye. The killer scores came from Darragh Greene who got 2 goals at vital times in the game and were the deciding factor in CLG BnaG staying in the A Championship. It is great to see our young lads competing in the highest level at U16, keep up the good work. Team: Jamie-Lee Blaney, Conor Coll, Niall Trearty, Ross Trearty, Peter Curran, Ronan Docherty, Conor Mc Hugh (0-1), Ryan McMahon (0-2), Connor Gormley (1-5), Dane Dunworth, Ryan Spike Flood (0-1), Darragh Greene (2-1), Ryan Toye, Oisin Doherty, Shane McNamee. Subs: Luke Serrinha, Oisín Bradley, Adrian Gallagher
