It was a big championship night in the Banks on Saturday night where Naomh Muire entertained An Tearmann. The home team had to settled for a point after a point deep into injury time saw the game end in a draw.This was a real cut and thrust Senior battle which ebbed and flowed over the full hour. For Naomh Muire it was a game which they are disappointed at not winning but one which they will pull many many positives from such was the manner in which they performed with hunger throughout. They led 0-7 to 0-1 after 15 mins in a period that included two big goal chances but the ever-dogged Termon hit their purple patch and scored 7 points without reply to lead by one at Half time.
The job then was to lift heads and regroup for the second half and this was exactly what happened. Others would have allowed the reversal of such a lead to effect them but the boys came out with the same hunger as the first half start and for the entire second half took the game to Termon.
Even when Termon got their goal half way through the half to lead by three. Naomh Muire upped their already massive effort hitting some glorious points and cancelling out the Termon goal in a period of the match where you could only stand back and admire the sheer guts and effort and the determination to take the match by the scruff of its neck. With injury time being played Naomh Muire ran into a a two point lead and it looked as if a first Senior Championship win in the Banks was on the cards. Senior football can be punishing and when Termon reduced the margin to a point, Naomh Muire still looked as if they would hold out. However a 30 metre free awarded with time up gave Termon the chance to equalize which they did.
A win would have put Naomh Muire in a strong qualifying position and having put in such effort it is natural the team and management will be disappointed. However no supporter left the Banks tonight without full admiration for the manner the lads applied themselves, never giving in to a more experienced and battled hardened Termon side.
Well done to the entire squad and the management team .

In what was yet again another impressive performance by the reserves, the lads kept their Championship hopes very much alive with this win. In a game which saw Termon start strong, the Reserves took control from around the tenth minute and led throughout.
Throughout the year, the reserves have been showing great leaps forward and it has been an outstanding platform where our Seniors of tomorrow are getting game time supported by several experienced lads who have been as steady as hell.
Well done again and great work by all concerned.
Both teams welcome Na Cealla Beaga to the Banks this Sunday for the final round of group games in the championship with all still to play for. The reserve game is at 12:30 with the senior game throwing in at 2:00pm.

The senior ladies had a good win in the division 3 league match played in the Banks on Sunday 22th August against Cloich Cheann Fhaola. The next game for the Ladies is Sunday 30th Aug in The Banks against Dungloe.
The minor county semi finals see our girls playing Four Masters in Donegal Town on the 6th September. Comghairdeas Leah McGarvey who won Silver Medal with the Rosses/Gaoth Dobhair relay team at the All Ireland community games.
