*Minor Northern Final*
CLG BnaG 1-12 Cloughaneely 1-8
Na Galloglaigh emerged from this encounter with Cloughaneely as Northern Champions after a hard fought win in Downings. Playing against a stiff breeze the boys started brightly and almost got off to a dream start when man of the match Connor Gormley found himself clean through and bearing down on goal. His effort was well saved by the keeper however Ryan Mcmahon was on hand to tap the rebound over the bar. McMahon added another point seconds later before Gormley added two points of his own to leave the score 0-4 to no score after 6 minutes, a great start considering they were against the breeze. These scores were needed as Cloughaneely began to get back into the game and in the space of a minute scored 1-1 to leave the game all square after 10 minutes. Points from Ryan Spike Flood and Adam Serrinha put Na Galloglaigh ahead again but Cloughaneely responded with two of their own. In the final 10 minutes of the half Gormley (2) and McMahon scored before one last Cloughaneely point to put some breathing room between the sides at half time. The boys would have been delighted to be leading 0-9 to 1-4 at the break considering they would have the advantage of a strong wind for the second period. It didn’t work out that way however as Cloughaneely came back with all guns blazing to score 4 unanswered points in the first ten minutes of the half, and Na Galloglaigh looked all at sea. Na Galloglaighs first score of the half came through Serrinha after 43 minutes to leave the boys just a point behind, and a free from Gormley on 52 levelled the game up again. Na Galloglaigh began to regain their composure and after some great work from McMahon and substitute Ryan Toye down the left hand side, full back Kieran Sheridan popped up to put the blues ahead in the 53rd minute. The final insurance score came with five minutes remaining when Na Galloglaigh were awarded a fairly fortuitous penalty. The excellent Martin Doyle went to win a long ball as a Cloughaneely player put the foot out and the referee awarded the penalty which Gormley coolly dispatched. Serrinha had another great goal chance as the game entered injury time but his effort went just wide of the post. As the final whistle went the boys will feel relieved to have gotten over the line after a relatively disappointing second half, although they deserved it on the balance of play throughout the 60 minutes and have been working extremely hard all year. They made hard work of it but nevertheless never stopped and they got their reward. They will feel tonight is only a stepping stone however as they advance to the County Semi Final where they will no doubt be seeking retribution against Bundoran for the loss in the County League Final a few months ago. CLG BnaG v Naomh Brid

It is do or die for our Seniors in the Intermediate Championship this weekend as they take on Naomh Brid at home. Having beaten Burt at the weekend the boys now have 2 points in the group, the same as Naomh Brid who also defeated Burt but were defeated by Bundoran. The Reserves also need a win and also for other results to go their way as they also take on Naomh Brid at home. Throw in times are 5pm for the Reserves and 6.30pm for the Seniors.
*Ladies All Ireland Quarter Final*
Hard luck to Amber Barrett and the rest of the Donegal team and management who were defeated by Armagh in the All Ireland Quarter Final on Saturday by 2-13 to 2-11. Amber started in full forward for Donegal as the newly crowned Ulster Champions were pipped at the post again by Armagh. Hard luck to all involved but well done on a great year which saw a historic first Ulster title for Donegal Ladies.
*Chicago Championship*
Well done to Caoimhe Barrett who was part of the Aisling Gaels side that defeated St Bridgets in the Final of the Chicago Championship at the weekend. Caoimhe scored 1-4 from centre half forward for the Gaels as they won 6-7 to 1-10 to advance to the North American Finals in a few weeks time.

Burt 1-7 CLG BnaG 2-8
Our Seniors left Hibernian Park tonight with two vital Championship points after a high intensity clash with Burt. Na Galloglaigh got off to a good start with points from Pauric Curley and Luke Barrett putting them two points clear after 2 minutes however Burt responded with two frees from Mark Coyle. It was a hard hitting and physical encounter throughout the 60 minutes but wasn’t necessarily rough with referee Shane Toolan letting the game flow. Cathal Mc Gettigan landed a great 45 to edge Na Galloglaighs noses in front again after 17 minutes but Coyle once again equalised with 10 minutes to go, in what transpired to be Burts last score of the half. Two more points from McGettigan and another from Curley saw the lads in a good position going into the break before Joey Cullen pounced for a goal right at the end of the half. A high ball in from Luke Barrett was well won by Cullen and he kept his cool to slide the ball under the Burt keeper and into the back of the net. The second half brought more of the same intensity from both sides and it took 5 minutes for the scoreboard to move again, McGettigan with another free. Conor Harkin scored a free a minute afterwards and seconds after that Harkin had the ball in the net with a very similar finish to Cullens. This just left two between the sides with Burt coming more and more into the game. The defence did well dealing with the majority of what Burt threw at them and especially under some high balls. With 10 minutes to go Luke Barrett added another point but yet again Burt came back with a score from Coyle. With 9 minutes left on the clock Gavin Grier received a black card for a pull back which saw the introduction of Kieran Mc Laughlin in his place. A score from the Burt full back Georgie Kelly with 3 minutes left put the minimum between the sides and made for a nervy finale as the boys knew there was going to be a lot of injury time. A bad injury to Enda McDermott early in the half saw 5 minutes of injury time added to the clock and just before the game entered injury time Na Galloglaigh got a crucial score. Pauric Curley did brilliantly to intercept a short Burt kickout and saw himself and Christopher Barrett two on one with the keeper, with Curley unselfishly passing to Barrett who finished into an open net to put 4 between the sides again. Joe Boyle received a black card in injury time for Burt for a rather cynical sliding tackle from behind on Cullen but it mattered not as the game finished 1-7 to 2-8 to Na Galloglaigh with a hard fought and hard earned win. WIth 1 win from 2 in their Championship match the boys now have a huge game against Naomh Brid in the final match of the group stage at home next Sunday. Na Galloglaigh will feel they left this game behind them this evening yet on the flip side Burt will probably feel they should have won by more having squandered numerous scoring opportunities. Indeed the majority of these chances were handed to them on a proverbial plate through bad passes and poor play from Na Galloglaigh. They were confident going at half time a point ahead thanks to an Adam Serrinha knowing that theu hadn’t really got started yet and that there was a lot more in them, but it just never got going in the second half either, and ultimately were defeated by 3 points. The focus for the Reserves now turns back to the league campaign with them sitting top of the Division 3 Reserve league and highly reluctant to relinquish that position. Before that however the boys will be in Championship action again next Sunday when they take on Naomh Brid at home in the final group game. Hard luck to our Minor Ladies who were defeated by Naomh Conaill in the County Semi Final yesterday in Convoy. This is a very young Minor team with only three of the girls Minor age, the rest made up of U14s & U16s so this squad has a bright future and this result should hold them in good stead for years to come.
