CLUB NOTES FOR WEEK ENDING 19 JULY 2015

Appreciation:

We would like to express our gratitude to Ciaran Gallagher, Architectural Services, Doon, Termon for providing the planning drawings as part of our application for Sports Capital Funding for the new training pitch. We are indebted to Ciaran who donated his services free of charge to the Club, and are anxiously awaiting news in the Autumn on progress in our application.

Lotto:

There was no match jackpot winner last week. Numbers drawn were 2, 8, 16 and 25. There was one match 3 winner, Gerard Dorrian, and two open draw winners, Darren Crossan and Conor Tinney. Next week’s jackpot is €2,750 and the draw takes place in the Millbridge, with Pauric Hilferty co-ordinating.

Senior Men:

Both reserves and seniors played Cloughaneely on Saturday evening last at the Burn Road. The Reserves lost out to a much stronger Cloughaneely side, whilst the seniors came away with a one point draw after a tense and exhilarating game of football, where a great effort by every member of the team from goalkeeper to forwards paid off with the points ensuring that the senior team stay at the top of Division 2.

Both teams are due to play Gaeil Fhanáda on Friday evening at the Burn Road, with the reserve game throwing in at 6.30 and the senior game at 8.

Ladies:

The Juniors beat Urris in the return leg of the championship last Sunday at the Burn Road. Unfortunately though they exit the Championship on aggregate score. A great performance by all. There possibly will be home game for The Juniors against Fanad this Saturday, details TBC.

The Minors play St. Eunans this Thursday at 7, at the Burn road. The girls are to be there at 6:15. All support greatly appreciated.

The U14 girls are in semi final action tonight, Tuesday, in Glenfin at 7:00. They are playing Ardara in what should be a great game between two evenly matched teams. If the girls win they will be in action in the final on Saturday. All support welcome.

Hard luck to our four U14 county girls who lost the All Ireland final replay in Tuam on Saturday. It just wasn’t their day, with dreadful conditions and missed chances, but what a year they had and there will be bigger days ahead for these girls.

U12 girls training continues Wednesdays at 5:30.

Table Quiz

Thanks to all turned up on Thursday last at the Lagoon for the quiz, it turned out to to be bumper crowd, who ever said quizes are not competive!! With only 2pts between 1st and 2nd place, well done to David& Meave Brady, Celine McFadden and Cars mcglynn who came out on top. Thanks to the Lagoon, Mr. Chippie and Mc Bride Bros. Coaching will continue on Saturday for U6s and U8s 10.30-11.30 and U10s 10.30-11.45. Our U8s are due to travel to Malin in two weeks for a tournament so it’s important that all boys and girls are at coaching on Saturday morning. Remember all U8s and U10s must have a gumshield and their own water.

Our U12 boys extended their season by one game when they defeated Mc Cumhaills in an exciting game on Monday night in Termon. Oisin Dohertys goals proved to be a crucial score and a super save from Oisin Farrell was another turning point in a game with only the minimum between the teams at the end. The second game ebbed and flowed and just when it seemed the Termon boys had done enough an injury time goal saw Mc Cumhaills take the victory. Our u12 boys now travel to Castlefin to take on the hosts in their final league game of the season tomorrow (Wednesday), details sent by text. Thanks to the ladies who provided the refreshments for palyers and supporters afterwards.

Our Minors are due to play Glenswilly on Monday next at The Burn Road @ 7.30pm in a crucial Minor A Championship game, where the winner will progress to the Northern Board Semi finals. Come along and support the boys. On Tuesday our U14 boys are due to travel to O’Donnell Park to play St Eunan’s in their opening Championship game also with a 7.30 throw in. The following Monday July 27th our U16s will take on Malin in their opening Championship game with a venue to be confirmed.
