CLUB NOTES : CLG AN TEARMAINN : week ending 7 June 2015

LADIES: Bhí seachtain mhór ag foireann na mban sa Tearmann. Ar an Domhnach, in ainneoin gaoth láidir agus fearthainn throm, d’éirigh leo an séú Craobh na hÉireann a bhaint amach i gComórtas Pheil na Gaeltachta nuair a bhí an bua acu in éadan Gleann Fhinne. Chríochnaigh siad ag 3.12 in éadan 2.05. Éacht dochreidthe é seo, ach, ar ndóigh, níl aon rud dodhéanta don fhoireann seo mar is eol dúinn go léir ag an phointe seo! Agus ansin, to add to their achievements for the week, two days after winning their unequalled sixth All Ireland Gaeltacht championship in a row, the girls once again made history when they and their families were honoured with a civic reception by Donegal County Council at County House Lifford. This historic day will long be remembered by the girls, their families and everyone associated with the Club, and we congratulate them and reiterate our pride in this exceptional group of girls, this honour was well earned and truly deserved.

The ladies have a league away to Glenfin this Sunday. The Juniors have no game this week and training will be on Wednesday and Friday, Harry will be in touch regarding times.

The U14 girls played Glenswilly last Tuesday night away and came away with a good victory. There were some good performances and some rusty ones due to the long lay off. This week sees the girls play two games which will determine at which championship level they will play next year. On Tuesday they play Milford at home at 7:30, all support appreciated as it’s probably their only home game this year. Then on Thursday night the girls are away to St. Eunan’s at 7:00 pm, this should prove to be a great game as both teams are evenly matched.

Massive congratulations to Roisin Mc Cafferty on recieving an All British University Ladies All Star Award. Also, congratulations to Emer Gallagher on being named on the Tesco Division 2 team of the year, well done. The very best of luck to everyone doing their Leaving and Junior Cert over the next few weeks.

PITCH: We would like to remind EVERYONE that no-one is allowed to play/practise on the pitch without prior permission from PJ McFadden, who manages the bookings for the field. If we are to hope to have the use of the field for this year, we would ask everyone to respect this rule, and contact PJ in advance of setting foot on the field! PJ may be contacted on 0868641159.

5K

It’s only 4 weeks to the 5k on Thursday 2nd July, so make sure to keep the date free, and we would ask managers of all teams to keep the date free, the 5k can be used as a training exercise/warm-up that evening!

The June monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday 10 June at 8.30 in the Club House. Tickets for the Donegal v Armagh match will be distributed from 7.30 to 8.30 in advance of the game. Tickets must be collected at this time, and paid for upon collection.

Minor Board notes June 2nd in association with Kelly’s CENTRA Mountain top Letterkenny

Firstly this week it’s a huge thanks to Michael Boyle who took charge of Friday evening’s u14 and u16 coaching. Players and coaches alike really enjoyed Michael’s excellent style and detail of coaching. With almost 30 boys in attendance it was one of the highlights of our underage season to date and we greatly appreciate Michael taking time to make this a very worthwhile venture for all

Our 12 boys were first in action last week and continued their great start to the season with two wins over two very young but spirited Fanad Gaels teams on Wednesday evening at The Burn Road. In the opening game a few early scores settled any Termon nerves with Evan keown involved in several of these. Mark Toye again stamped his authority on the game and got up the field to land a brace of long range points. Jamie Doherty Caolan Reid and Owen Boyle held a strong defensive line and Patrick Mc Daid made an impressive debut for this team with a fine score and a good second half performance. In the second game Thomas Cannon was superb again in goals. Cormac Diver and Cormac Gallagher drove the team on from the middle third and Ciaran Mc Cormack, Cian Page and Stephen Lee Doherty were involved in many of our well worked scores. Well done to all the boys. Next up its St Eunan’s in O Donnell Park on Sunday morning with times to be confirmed over the next few days.

Next in action were our U8 boys and girls who travelled to Killgordon to take part in their second blitz of the season. Thanks to all the parents who made the journey to support their children in three games against the hosts Red Hughs, Robert Emmetts and Naomh Colmcille. A huge thanks to Ollie Doherty and all in Killygordon for a superbly organised blitz enjoyed by every one of our young players who attended. Its back to coaching this Saturday morning for our U6s and u8s 10.30-11.30 at The Burn Road. Please make a special effort to bring your child along.

On Monday evening our U14 boys made short work of the difficult conditions when they recorded a fine victory over Glenswilly again at The Burn Road. A brace of early goals from Joey Mc Nally and Conor Black set the tone for the evening. Once again Adam Mc Elwaine put in a fine performance between the posts with his full back line of Marty Steele, Stephen Black and Jack Alcorn giving little away, he responded superbly when called into action. The Midfield quartet of Ryan and Conor McFadden, Caolan Gallagher and Jamie Grant caused untold problems for the opposition with Jamie and Conor constantly finding gaps in the defence. Up front Steve Mc Daid led the line superbly with some great scores from play and

from frees and bringing his forwards into the game at every opportunity. Subs Colm Gallagher and Aaron Gallagher showed their intent on getting a starting jersey with impressive performances off the bench With 2 league games to go its 3 from 3 for this team, well done to all involved.

This Saturday our U10 boys and girls will travel to Castlefin for their second blitz of 2015. David will send out details over the next few days, Best of luck to all.

Congrats to the girls from Kilmacrennan NS and their coach / teacher Mel O Donnell on their Cumann na mBunscoil success last week. This Thursday our boys and girls will be in opposing camps when Kilmacrennan Ns and Termon NS contest the NW schools Shield finals at the Burn Road. This promises to be a fascinating days football, everyone welcome…

Congrats to Caolan Mc Daid and the Donegal Minor team on their superb victory over Armagh on Sunday last.

Kelly’s Centra and Diner at the Mountain Top will host the launch of our 2 year sponsorship agreement this Friday at 5pm. We hope all our U12 boys will be in attendance to officially receive the jerseys which were part of this agreement. Club members, parents and children are all welcome and please have any children that are attending in their Termon gear. Light refreshments will be served so we hope to see many of our underage players from U6 – U16 in attendance.
