I ndiaidh na gcluichí Craoibhe i nDún Fionnachaidh an tseachtain roimhe sin bhí dhá fhoireann Chloich Cheannfhaola ar ais sa tSraith Dé Sathairn seo chaite. Chuir siad fáilte roimh an Tearmann go Páirc Naomh Fionán. Tá an Tearmann ar bharr na Sraithe faoi láthair ach bhí bua mhaith ag Cloich Cheannfhaola orthu 2-09|1-09. Fágann sin Cloich Cheannfhaola sa dara háit i Sraith Roinn a 2.
Tá an fhoireann tacaíochta níos fearr arís agus iad ar bharr na Sraithe i ndiaidh bua mhaith 3-13|1-07 in éadan an Tearmaínn.
Tá Cloich Cheannfhaola sa bhaile arís ar an Domhnach seo – in éadan Naomh Muire ar 1:30 agus 3:00
A sunny, calm day had turned into wet and windy conditions – just in time for throw-in on Saturday evening where Cloughaneely welcomed Termon to Páirc Naomh Fionán! Despite the miserable conditions both Seniors and Reserves came away victorious!
The reserves held on to their top spot on the league table with a comfortable 3-13|1-07 win! The seniors moved up into 2nd place on the league table, now just behind Termon, thanks to their 2-09|1-09 victory.
Seniors: Cloughaneely dominated for most of the first half, where the home side had rattled off a score of 2-05 before Termon had registered their first score. John Fitzgerald opened the scoring for Cloughaneely with a converted free within the first minute. Fitzgerald added to his personal tally with a goal in the 18th min, thanks to a ball into the goal mouth by John McGarvey which Fitzgerald neatly tucked away. Termon had their own attempt on goal in the 14thminute , when Johnny McCafferty found himself in prime position; however Cloughaneely keeper, Shaun McClafferty, cleared it to safety. Cloughaneely’s Lee O’Brien then intercepted a ball during a goal mouth fumble, which he expertly placed past Termon’s Michael Boyle, to register Cloughaneely’s 2nd goal. Further points from Fitzgerald, Denis Boyle, DarrenMcGeever propelled the home side well ahead of their opponents. The game was into the 20th minute when Termon managed to record their first score, which was a converted free from their top scorer of the day Daire McDaid. His free taking proficiency was evident as he easily converted another 3 points within the final 10 mins of the 1st half. Kevin McMenamin also contributed to Termons 1st half tally with a superbly taken point.
Half Time Score: CCF 2-05 Termon 0-05
Termon had all the work to do in the 2nd half which they were well aware of. Termon dominated the kick outs for most of the 2nd half and looked a much more dangerous team. Cloughaneely, again, managed to open the 2nd half scoring with a point from Shaun McGuire in the 35th min, which was quickly followed by another Fitzgerald free. Termon’s, Daire McDaid continued to increase his personal tally with a further 2 points from frees in the 42nd and 52nd minutes. In the 55th minute, a Daire McDaid free fell short in front of the goals: amidst the flurry of Cloughaneely and Termon jerseys, Termon’s Declan O’Donnell managed to get a palm to the ball which he drove past the Cloughaneely keeper to find the back of the net. Termon were persistent in their efforts; with further excellent points from Fionntan O’Flynn and substitute Trevor Alcorn. There were a few tense moments around the Cloughaneely goals, however Cloughaneely’s Kevin McFadden did a outstanding job in defence for the home side. Cloughaneely managed to keep ahead of the visitors, with further points from Declan McGarvey and Darren McGeever, to record another win!
