Cloughaneely travelled to play St. Nauls on Sunday last in the 5th round of their league campaign. The reserves have had an excellent start to their league campaign and are currently sitting at the top of the table thanks to their 4th consecutive win against St Nauls! Reserve FT Score: CCF: 2-11 St. Nauls 1-09.
The Seniors managed to secure a draw at the last kick of the game! Stephen Griffin got proceedings underway in the senior game with the first point of the match for St. Nauls 7 mins in. Griffin was on target for the home-side as he converted a subsequent 4 frees in the first half; leaving him St. Nauls’ only scorer within the first 30 mins. Cloughaneely’s Jason McGee made an impressive debut on the starting 15 and also contributed 1 point to Cloughaneely’s score, while also making some great runs to set up further points. Points from John Fitzgerald, Cillian Gallagher, Ciaran McGeady and John Mcgarvey ensured Cloughaneely went in with the advantage at half time.
Senior HT Score: CCF 0-07 St. Nauls 0-05
2 mins into the 2nd half Cloughaneely were awarded a penalty which overshot the crossbar for a point; this was shortly followed by a converted free from John Fitzgerald to help extend Cloughaneely’s lead to 4 points. St. Nauls responded strongly to the widening gap by scoring 2 points within quick succession. Cloughaneely battled strongly to maintain their distance with subsequent points from Darren Ferry and a Cillian Gallagher free; however a goal from St. Nauls 21 mins into the 2nd half quickly brought them within 1 point of the visiting side. St. Nauls managed to steal into a 1 point lead, 27 mins into the 2nd half, for the first time since the start of the game; and they managed to hold that lead for the remainder of normal time. Time was on Cloughaneely’s side as the referee announced 6 ½ mins of injury time was to be played; Cloughaneely managed to hold St. Nauls scoreless during injury time; while John Fitzgerald ensured that Cloughaneely went home with 1 point added to the league table as he converted a free which was the last kick of the game!

***U-12 / U-14 Girls***
U-12 girls had a great start to their season on Saturday last, beating Gweedore 2-04 to 04-02. U-14’s play Dungloe away on Tuesday evening.

Congratulations to Sally Whoriskey who won €100 on the club’s recent Guess the Score competition! There is another Guess the Score competition being run for the Donegal v Tyrone game -€2 a guess! If you come across some of our Ladies team/committee selling lines for this competition your support would be greatly appreciated!
***REMINDER: Topaz Cash for Clubs Scheme***
The deadline is fast approaching for submission of the Topaz Cash for Clubs cards. For those of you who will be clocking up the extra miles travelling to county and Club games in the coming weeks,Cloughaneely GAA club has signed up to the Topaz Cash for Clubs initiative where you can help win up to E 10,000 for the club! The Cash for Club Scheme ends 5pm Sunday 10 May 2015.
Collect a card at your local Topaz and you will earn one stamp per fuel transaction with a minimum value of E40. We need to collect 300 completed cards to qualify for the draw so your help and support is appreciated!! When you have your card completed you can drop them into the Cloughaneely boxes in TOPAZ outlets in Falcarragh or Gortahork. Alternatively you can hand over your stamped card to Anna Marie Coyle, Martin Duggan, Marie McClafferty or any club officer.
