Senior Men
The lads travelled to Milford on Saturday evening in their 3rd away game in succession. They got off to a great start scoring an early goal and a couple of points before the Milford lads got a score on the board. Aided by a strong breeze the Reds piled on the pressure in the opening thirty minutes and frustrating their opponents. It got worse for the home side having a man red carded for having a kick at Pauric Mc Menamin. At the break it couldn’t have looked better for the lads going in 7 points up Red Hughs 1-8 Milford 0-1
The home side came out fighting in the second half and soon started to claw their way back into the game. An early goal gave them the spur they needed and never looked back. They came forward in packs and hassled and harried their way through the Reds defence and soon found themselves level. As in the first half the wind was blowing straight down the pitch making thing very difficult going forward. With ten minutes to go Gary Kelly seen red for exactly the same reason the Milford man was sent to the line for. The Milford lads then finished the game very strongly. The Reds could only manage a solitary point against the wind in the second half as did Milford in the opening half. The final score was Red Hughs 1-9 Milford 5-8
Senior Reserve
The reserves also played Milford and due to work commitments and other reasons fielded a weakened side. They were up against it playing a very strong Milford team that was unbeaten in their opening two game and scoring heavily also. As in the senior game the wind was to play a major role in the game. The Reds played against it in the first half and really struggled going forward. The Milford lads took full advantage and were soon pulling away from the Reds.
The home side never let up and kept going forward at every opportunity. There was only going to be one winner in this one at the Milford streaked ahead. Fair play to the Reds they kept going until the final whistle, The final score was Red Hughs 0-6 Milford 5-20
