Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona daoibh go leir….
Buncrana GAA Notes for Week Ending Sunday 16th March 2015
Lá Fhéile Pádraig shona daoibh go leir
County Senior Hurling Panel
Congratulations to Jack O’Loughlin and Donal Og MacLochlainn on their addition to the county Senior Hurling Panel. Both played in the county’s defeat to Meath last weekend but played well despite the result.
Both these players were recently involved with NUIG Galway’s college hurling squads and are testament to the hard work being done at underage level over the years in the Club. Hopefully they are the first of a fine crop of young talent that will grace the county colours at senior level in the near future.
County Minor Hurling Panel
Congratulations to our Club members who have been selected for the County Minor panel, managed of course by our own hurling stalwart, Tom Clare
Declan Mc Carron, Tom Clare, Sam Doherty, Darren Doherty, James Doherty, Kevin Vaughan, Aeden Stokes, Paddy Wilson, Macauly Carr and Paul Nelson.
Save the Date…Celebrate Easter Sunday this year in vintage style! The Club is hosting a 60/70/80s Disco to in the Sugar Room on Easter Sunday Night with the proceeds going to Buncrana GAA and Inishowen Special Needs. Tickets €10, doors open 9.30pm and close again….well, at some late hour! Boogie away the Easter eggs and support 2 good causes at the same time!
Hurling Coach Training
The coach education morning takes place in Owenbeg next Saturday 21st March. Tutors on the day will be Paudie Butler, Dinny Cahill and Shane Elliot. This is a morning not to be missed by anyone who has an interest in hurling coaching and a great opportunity to learn from some of the top hurling coaches around. Anyone with any queries or who needs more information should call Kevin Hinphey,
Regional Hurling Development Officer, 00447918719793. There is no charge or booking required.
Seachtain Na Gaelige / Lá Fhéile Pádraig
Please note the final arrangements for St Patricks Day. The committee is looking for as much help as possible so please give an hour or two if you can…the pubs will be open for long enough so don’t worry about missing that part of it! Can all children be at the Scarvey for 1.30 (face painting and then onto the float or parade behind the float). Club tracksuits/club gear to be worn if possible…..also, we need supervisors to accompany the parade so if you’re free we would appreciate the help. Don’t forget there is dancing and Music in the clubhouse afterwards.
A lot of our teams are playing matches on the day too including Parish League at 12 noon (kids need to be at Scarvey for 11.30am) and the Minors (so any support you can give them would be appreciated too). Remember, this is our National Day, a day to celebrate what’s great and unique about our culture, language and games. Cuimhnigh, is é seo an lá a cheiliúradh ar chultúr, teanga agus cluichí . Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Deirdre or Grainne or email buncrana.pro@gmail.com .

The March 31st Deadline is closing on us anyone still to register needs to contact Claire on 0863340965. Remember all players must be registered before they can take part in matches OR training
Underage News
We’re having a ‘Car-Wash and Coffee Morning’ on Saturday 21st March from 9am – 5pm in the Scarvey. This is a fundraiser for our U14 Hurling Feile team, so we’re calling on all club members, their family and friends to support us and make a big effort. Get a nice clean car or van in time for Easter…and pop upstairs and enjoy a cuppa and some nice home-baked savouries while you’re waiting. We need as much support as possible.
Easter Camp
The Club is holding its annual Easter Camp on Monday 30th, Tuesday 31st March, and 1st April. This is for all U14, U15 and U16 boys and girls. Please register this week with your managers.
U10 Girls Football
The Girls played their second game of the indoor league at home to Urris at the weekend. In a physically intense game the Buncrana girls pulled away with a strong early lead through several good scores from Leah Deehan. However, in the second half the Urris forwards did more damage and the game finished as a tie. Our side were very strong defensively and Urris’s only scores came from long range efforts. Best on the day were Aine Jordan and Leah Deehan but all of the girls put in a real team effort and a performance they can be proud of. Well done girls!
Parish League – The Parish League is on at 12.00pm on St Patrick’s morning and children, please be at the Scarvey for 11.30am. Also the finals day of the parish league will be held on March 24th at 3.30pm.
