GAA Notes: Week Ending 15-2-15
Registration/Membership
There will be a club-wide registration evening on Sunday 8th March in An Craoibhin from 5-8pm. All registrations must be finalised by March 31st under new rule changes from Croke Park so this is advance notice of the registration evening. This is the most important date of the club year so far and more details will follow in the coming weeks.
Drama Group
Good luck to all CLG An Tearmainn members, and all the rest of the cast and crew, who will perform in the inaugural An Craoibhin Drama Group play this Friday and Saturday night at 8:00. A limited number of tickets are still available at the time of writing, please contact An Craoibhin for more information.
Senior Men
This weekend sees the beginning of the 2015 season for our Senior men as they host Dungloe in the preliminary round of Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta Sinsir at 2:00. New Senior manager Paddy McDaid is sure to be hoping for a good start to the season.
The Reserve team will begin their season with a home game against Glenfin the following Saturday 28th in the Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta Soisir. The game is provisionally fixed for 2:00 but please see next week’s notes for confirmation.
Both teams will be hoping to be in action in Pairc An Phiarsaigh Ardara on the May Bank Holiday weekend for the Donegal Finals, and possibly going back to Ardara on the June Bank Holiday for the All-Ireland Finals. The hunt for silverware gets underway this Saturday at The Burn Road at 2:00.
Minor Board in association with ESB Networks
All managers, coaches, trainers and selectors who will be involved with a Minor Board team (U-6 to U-18) must have completed the Child Protection Course. There will be a Child Protection/Foundation Coaching Course in Gweedore on the 13th/14th March. Please contact Coaching Officer Paddy McMenamin on 0872175234 for more information.
Anyone interested in attending the Ulster Coaching Conference on the 21st February in Cookstown is asked to contact Paddy McMenamin.
There is also a Level 1 Coaching Course being held in Glenswilly on weekends 27/28 February & 6/7 March. Anybody interested in doing these courses is asked to contact Paddy McMenamin on 0872175234.
U14 girls training has begun for the year and is on Sundays from 5:00 to 6:30 in Illistrin Astroturf. All players welcome, contact Paddy on 0872175234 for more information.
It is a requirement that all players must wear a gumshield during all training sessions and matches. This is for the benefit of the child in case of an accident or collision.
Ladies
Termon GAA Club recently launched a new DVD entitled “All Ireland Journey 2014″. This unique DVD highlights and shows exclusive behind the scenes footage of the recent successes of the Termon Senior Ladies football team. Footage includes scenes from the County Final right up to and including the All-Ireland Final. It includes exclusive pre-match interviews from manager Francie Friel and Termon’s ace goal scorer Geraldine McLaughlin, club meetings, erection of banners, buntings, flags. It also covers team talks, departure and the coach trip south to Tuam on All Ireland Final day. Extensive footage of the raw emotion of the faces of the management, players, parents and supporters at the final whistle are all covered. Scenes from the momentous home coming for the All Ireland Champions are also highlighted in this special edition DVD.
The DVD can be purchased from all local shops, from any member of the executive or by contacting the clubs Facebook page.

Congratulation to our own Meabh McDaid who has been selected as joint captain for the Donegal U16s for the year, and also to her co-captain Mary Ward from Glenfin. Well done to Orla Blades, Emily O’Flynn and Shannon McLaughlin who have been selected on the U16 panel.
Congratulations to Roisin McCafferty, president and player for the Coventry University Ladies GAA team who won the All British University Championship recently.
Lotto
There was no winner of last week’s Lotto Jackpot. The numbers drawn were 13, 18, 20 and 23. Open draw winners were Betty Harkin and Paddy Gallagher c/o Bingo. Next week’s draw takes place in Noras Bar, and the Jackpot currently stands at €1,700.
The Club Executive are listed for Bingo Lotto duty for the month of February with the Senior Men scheduled to take over for the month of March.
