Buncrana GAA Notes for Week Ending Sunday 1st February 2015
Club Presentation Night
Here’s a date to add to your diary – the Club’s Presentation night has been confirmed for Saturday 21st Feb. Tickets will be €15 each. This year we’re going for a less formal, more socialable approach with a buffet followed by our presentations and disco. More details to follow including special guests, etc, but at least keep the date in mind for now. Tickets available from usual sources!
Gone but not forgotten!
The Club was delighted to see two former members scaling new heights last week. Congratulations to Matty Deeney and Declan Walsh on reaching the Junior Club All Ireland finals with their respective clubs and codes – Matty Deeny for football with John Mitchels of Liverpool (final 14th February) and Declan Walsh in hurling with Fullen Gaels of Manchester (final Sunday 15th February). Both players played all their underage Football/Hurling with Buncrana and its good to see the Club nurturing such future talent.
Coaches and Managers 2015
With most of the positions now filled the Club is looking forward to a successful 2015 season in all codes at all age levels and in both genders! We will publish the full management and coaches list for the new season in next week’s Notes once everyone has been ratified. Let’s get behind our teams and give everyone, players and management, the support they need to make it a season to remember!
Club Officer Training
This training will be held on 4th of February in Ballybofey and will be particularly useful for those Officers who have taken on new roles.
Mizen to Malin Club Fundraiser
The Clubs big fundraising ‘cyclathon’ is definitely going ahead, starting from Mizen June 30 th and ending in Malin on July 5 th . The Club has earmarked this as our major fundraising event for 2015 and is bringing on a local charity (which one is yet to be confirmed) as a partner. This event will be a prime example of our Club fundraising to support our young people’s activities and contribute to local community development at the same time.
Anybody interested in doing the cycle or helping organise please contact Brian Stokes. This is a massive undertaking and lot of support roles need to be filled.
Garda Vetting
New Garda Vetting forms have been in place since July 2014 and are available for download from our website, Club Secretary, Grainne Ui Chearain, or Childrens Officer, Gary Duffy. Any club member who has responsibility for or contact with underage members in the course of their involvement with the club has to be Garda vetted.
Donegal GAA Yearbook
Donegal GAA Year Book is available now. This is a good read and amazing to see how much the club achieved in 2014 – here’s hoping we do as well or better in 2015. For your copy contact Grainne on 0864650200.
