DONEGAL CLUB OFFICER DEVELOPMENT COURSE

The Donegal Club Development Course takes place on Wednesday 4th February at Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey from 7pm to 9.30pm. The training aims to provide club officers and members with essential information for the year ahead. The workshops to be delivered in Donegal are outlined below.
For any club in the process of applying for club maith or considering applying, attendance at Officer Training events are a requirement.
Can I ask for clubs to encourage officers and members to attend workshops that would be best suited to their roles and which they may get benefit from.
Deadline for registration to this FREE course is 5pm on Monday 2nd February. Any clubs looking to attend must register by emailing sharon.haughey.ulster@gaa.ie or call 028 3751 7180 highlighting the names of members wishing to attend and which workshops they will be going to.

Child Protection
It is imperative that all clubs create the safest possible environment for all children and young people to participate in GAA Games and Activities. Central to this is the role of the Children’s Officer and Designated Officer. It is mandatory that every club has a Children’s Officer and that they are adequately trained to fulfil the requirements of their roles. Thiscourse provides that necessary training for both roles and is an excellent source of support and advice in a very sensitive area of club life.
Health and Wellbeing Officer Training
From 1st January all clubs are required by GAA rule to appoint a Health and Wellbeing Officer. This workshop advises on what the key roles and responsibilities are for this officer and how clubs can organise themselves to address the health needs of members.
Club Online: Social Media and websitesOnline communication platforms are extremely popular and a great way of promoting your club. This workshop focuses on how best to integrate all your online media and how to maximise free application and facilities which come with social media.
Valuing VolunteersVolunteers are the most valuable asset within our GAA clubs and it is important they are recognised for their efforts. This session will highlight best practice and experiences from clubs throughout the province, providing advice on how a plan can be implemented to help recruit, retain and recognise volunteers within their community.
Raising Scór and Culture within Your ClubThis workshop will discuss ways in which all clubs, big and small, can increase and enhance their participation in Scór. As well as looking at the competitions, it will explore the feasibility of holding internal Scór events and giving special recognition to Scór participants within clubs.
