Seniors & Reserves
The Seniors and Reserves played Gaoth Dobhair in the final game of the Group stage of the Senior Championship last Sunday at The Burn Road.
The Reserves needed to win by more than 8 points to ensure qualification, and despite a spirited performance they failed to achieve this target. Strong performances from Conor Tinney, J.R. McDaid, Kevin McElwaine, Jimmy McElwaine, Thomas Cullen, Caolan Mellett, Ricky Gallagher, Aodhan Cannon and Pauric “The Goal Machine” Hilferty. The development of players, particularly the U-21 and Minors is something that will give encouragement to anyone who wants to see Termon push on and there is no doubt that some of these players have long and fruitful Senior careers ahead of them.
The Seniors knew going into the match that if either Killybegs or Dungloe won their clash, then a victory would be sufficient to see them through to the Quarter-Finals. That result was achieved after a truly titanic tussle played in true Championship style where no quarter was asked or given, and heart had a big part to play. The performances of Sean McDaid, Kevin McDaid, Sean O’Donnell, Anthony McGrenra, Jamie Gallagher, Bernard Alcorn, Caolan McDaid, Daire McDaid, Christy Connaghan and Dominic McFadden will love long in the memories of the large crowd who were there to witness it.
Next up is a clash against neighbours and friends Glenswilly. Anyone who doubts the veracity of the friendship of these clubs need only cast their minds back to both clubs respective County Final appearances and remember the flags, banners and buntings that were out in support of their “rival” club. These friendly feelings and good wishes will be packed away for Sunday afternoon, but there can be little doubt that Glenswilly will be gallant in defeat on Sunday (hopefully)! The game will take place in O’Donnell Park on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and will be preceded by the Senior Reserve Quarter-Final between Glenfin and Gweedore at 1:30. A large crowd is expected so we would advise early arrival, wear club colours and bring your cheering voice.
Ulster GAA Student Bursary
We would recommend any of our student members to have a look at the Ulster GAA Student Bursary as a means to assist them in their studies. Deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 24th October.
Ulster GAA welcomes applications from those students from our province regardless whether their attendance is at a college inside or outside of Ulster. Applicants must:
– Be attending a full time course at a University or third level college. – Be eligible, under Comhairle Ardoideachasi Constitution and Bye Laws, to play in Higher Education GAA competitions. – Be in their second year of study, or above. i.e. ‘freshers’ are ineligible to apply. – Not in receipt of any other bursary/scholarship or Sports Academy scholarships, where they are in receipt of ‘in kind’ benefits. – Be actively involved in their Higher Education GAA club Applications can be downloaded from www.ulster.gaa.ie or by contacting the Club directly.
Minor Notes in association with ESB Networks
Congrats to U13 boys on reaching the County A Final. Last Saturdays semi final victory was a superb team performance .The Final is against old rivals St Eunans and is due to be played this Saturday in Lifford at 3pm. Best of luck to PJ, Andy and James and all these boys who have been magnificent all season, in Saturdays Final. We know 3pm on a Saturday is not ideal for many people but if possible please make a special effort to come along and support this great bunch of young Gaelic footballers who continue to improve and progress and who have already achieved so much.
After being pipped by a point in last week’s Northern Board Final, Termon U13`s bounced back with a hard earned victory over the Southern Board Champions, to edge out Killybegs in a thrilling contest in Glenfin on Saturday last.
A gifted and physically strong Killybegs side made it clear they meant business, but the intensity and drive of the Termon lads allied to some quality football ensured they edged the first half.
Klllybegs started strongly after half-time, and only for some stalwart defending by Bobby McGettigan and Marty Steele, they could easily have added to the their three goal tally and won the game .With Jamie Grant and Conor Black always available Termon, managed to settle the ship and grab a few key scores to stay in front but as the full time whistle beckoned Killybegs rallied again.
In a pulsating contest which ebbed and flowed over the hour, Conor McFadden and Ryan McFadden initially controlled enough supply of ball to allow Termon keep their noses in front while the unyielding defence stood strong and created a platform for success. Once again it was a triumph of the collective over the individual, and manager PJ McFadden credited the work ethos and collective spirit as the key to the Termon victory.
As a team they were a complete unit, but special mention must go to Bobby McGettigan who won a key battle with a talented Killybegs full-forward, and half-forward Conor Black who provided an outlet and launch pad for Termon throughout the hour. In addition Ryan McFadden was the perfect linkman to feed a Termon team who seemed determined to work as a unit to ensure team success and they were full value for their win.
When speaking of their pride in the boys performance, managers PJ & Andy McFadden were keen to emphasise that the boys had played brilliantly to date, but that the job was not yet done. They maintain that they have always believed their group of players deserve to be playing in the County Finals and look forward to testing themselves against the best in the county next weekend. While
acknowledging that St Eunans are red hot favourites, they believe their team have the ability to rise to the occasion and spring a surprise. If it replicates previous games, another thriller may be in store. It should be an interesting game and we would advise you to be there if you can. Donegal Football is in safe hands if we can build on the success of these fine young teams.
Our U10 boys and girls are due to travel to Ardara on Friday for their final games of the 2014 season. We hope every single one of the boys and girls born in either 2004 or 2005 will be available to attend. Bus will leave from The Burn Road at 5:15pm on Friday evening. Details will be confirmed by text in the coming days.
Our U8s are due to have their final outing of the season this Saturday when they travel to Cloughaneely for a blitz with throw in at 11am. Any queries contact David on 0851305332.
Our U16 boys season has come to an end. We had hoped they would be in an A Level Shield competition but sadly this is not the case. Thanks to Bernard Gallagher and Paul Doherty for all their time and effort with this very talented young team. Some of these boys will still have Minor games in the next few weeks but in the meantime thanks to all the boys who made themselves available throughout the season.
Ladies
Senior Ladies: Well done to the Senior Ladies who defeated Newtonbutler in the Ulster Quarter-Final 10-10 to 1-03. The girls played excellent football and it was an overall strong team performance. They make the long trip to county Down on Sunday to play Castlewellen in the Ulster Semi-Final, with a throw in time of 2pm. Good luck to all the girls and the management. Minor Ladies: Huge congratulations to the Minor Ladies who had a very impressive win over Naomh Conaill Glenties on Wednesday evening. This win takes them to the County A Semi-Final where they will meet Glenfin, with date, time and venue to be confirmed. This was an excellent team performance, where the girls didn’t concede a score in the 2nd half. A big thank you to the managers and parents who went to schools to collect the girls, so this match could be played mid-week. Training continues on Wednesday evening at 5:15. Please make a huge effort to attend training.
U-13: The U-13 girls will play Moville on Saturday at 2:30 in the centre of excellence in Convoy. Training is on Wednesday evening from 5:45-7:00. All girls are asked to attend.
Under 12: Some of our Under 12 girls took part in the Ulster Development Blitz. The Termon girls were very impressive brushing aside teams like Errigal Ciaran, Triagh Omagh and our near neighbours St Eunans .The whole panel played extremely well and represented Termon club to the highest order. Well done and keep up the good work and hopefully these girls will see plenty of Ulster Football in the future. Big thanks to Lisa McGlynn who has managed these girls all year.
Strictly Come Dancing

Lotto
There was no winner of this weeks Lotto Jackpot. Open draw winners were Lucy Trearty and Noel Gallagher. Next weeks draw takes place in Noras Bar Kilmacrennan and the Jackpot currently stands at €800.
