Seniors & Reserves
Both the Seniors & Reserves were defeated away to Dungloe in the Championship last Sunday. A slow start and some basic defensive and handling errors proved to be the undoing for the Reserve team. The Seniors struggled against a strong and experienced Dungloe team who used home advantage to full effect.
Luckily for both teams, they get the chance to put things right this weekend when they host Killybegs in the second game in the group series on Saturday. The Reserves are down to begin at 4:00 with the Senior match throwing in at 5:30. Anyone who was in Dungloe last week can testify how influential a large and vocal home support can be so we would urge all supporters to come along and cheer on both teams as much as they can.
Sympathies
The Club was saddened to hear of the passing of Charlie O’Donnell, Clonkillymore on Tuesday evening after a short illness. Charlie was one of the original Founding Members of CLG An Tearmainn 51 years ago and made an invaluable contribution to both the Club and the Termon area throughout his life. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Minor Notes
After a huge effort by everyone involved with our U12 boys team, they finally earned the County Champions title on Sunday at The Banks, when both our A and B teams recorded superb victories over two gallant Naomh Conaill Glenties teams.
Cheered on by a large crowd of parents and supporters, the development squad set the scene with victory in the first game. The determination and work rate of these players gave them a platform which allowed their passing game to flow. Great credit is due to this squad who have improved so much over the year. Each and every one of the team raised their game for the final and fully deserved their victory. Mark Toye and Luke Downey were resolute in defence, Kevin Mc Gettigan and Manus O’Connell put in a towering performance in midfield while Michael Trearty, Lorcan Callaghan and Martin McGarvey provided some fantastic scores.
In the A Final, the Termon boys started very strongly only to be hit by a goal against the run of play which brought a quality Glenties team back into the game. True to form the Termon boys rallied with Bobby McGettigan and Jamie Grant starting to get a grip on midfield, but there was only a point
between the teams at half time. After the restart Aaron Reid and Mark Gallagher settled the team with some good scores before Glenties again rallied to bring the margin back to the minimum. With the game hanging in the balance Conor Cassidy won some good ball and kicked a great point before feeding Aaron Gallagher who kicked another good score to put Termon back in control.
Glenties made one final surge and were almost through on goal, but some great defending by Stephen Black and Jack Alcorn ensured that Termon held strong, and were full value for their victory.
In yet another great team performance, cousins Jack Alcorn and Aaron Reid were superb while Conor Cassidy and Aaron Gallagher gave their best performance of the year in the full forward line.
The boys capped a fine day’s work with a team meal in Casadh an tsúgáin before attending the Termon Senior championship match in Dungloe. The team were welcomed home to a bonfire and large group of parents and supporters who were delighted to celebrate another great day for the club.
Managers Paddy Gallagher and James Cassidy were absolutely delighted with the performance of both teams, and were particularly proud of the improvement of the panel as a whole. Manager Paddy Gallagher says he knew there was quality in the panel, but the work rate and team ethos has ensured that they got rewarded for their efforts. “To see the improvement in these young players, and to watch the combination of commitment, team work and quality football is a real joy “.
The future is looking bright for Termon.
A huge congratulation to all the boys who were part of these teams all year and to coaches Paddy Gallagher and James Cassidy for securing the first A title in our history at underage level. Many of these boys were part of last year’s U12 teams that were piped in the 2013 finals so this really was a much celebrated and hard earned success. Thanks to the parents who have been bringing these boys to coaching since February without fail, a huge commitment which we greatly appreciated. Well done everyone.
Our U13 A team, under the management of PJ Mc Fadden and Andy Mc Fadden, recorded a victory over a competitive Fanad Gaels outfit at the Burn Road last Wednesday. This result earns this team a place in the Northern Board A final for the second year in a row. A hugely fancied St Eunans team will provide the opposition with the final due to be played this Sunday morning at 11am in Glenswilly. This time and venue is still to be confirmed at time of going to press so please see local media for confirmation. Having already been defeated by St Eunans in the league this will be a significant challenge, but it’s exactly where we want to be, taking part in A level finals for the second successive year at U13 A level. Best of luck on Sunday with the guarantee of an All County semi-final against Glenties or Killybegs depending on the result, we can look forward to a few great games in the coming weeks.
Our U16 boys will play the Northern Div 1 Shield Semi-Final in the next week or so. Details will be given out at training when it becomes available. This competition gives this young but talented team an opportunity to finish their season on a high following on from last year’s County Div 2 U16 title.
We are due to host an U8 blitz this Saturday, weather permitting. Details will be sent out to all parents in the next few days. This will be the final outing of the year for the U8s so we hope to see all boys and girls born in 2006 and 2007 in attendance.

Ladies
Senior Ladies : This weekend see the Senior Ladies team take to the road to play Newtonbutler from Fermanagh in the Ulster Senior Club Championship. The game is fixed for Sunday at 2pm in Newtonbutler. All support for the girls would be most welcome. Good Luck to the girls and the management.
The Newtownbutler GAA field is at the 30 MPH speed limit on the A34 Lisnaskea Road. Travel time from Burn Road will be approximately 2h 15m, and we would encourage all supporters to allow plenty of time to complete the journey safely.

The Senior Ladies played St Eunans last Friday evening at home in the League and won on a scoreline of 4-12 to 3-08. We now have 3 games in the league left to play. Minor Ladies : The Minor match which was due to be played this Saturday away to Glenties has now been changed to the weekend of the 11/12 October due to our Senior Ladies match in the Ulster Championship on Sunday. Date and Time TBC. Please keep up the good attendance at training and the hard work you are all putting in. Under 13. The Under 13 girls are through from the A section. With no dates for matches yet, we will keep you posted when we can. Training is on Wednesday evening 6pm till 7:15pm.
Strictly Come Dancing
The club will be running a Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser before the end of the year. If you, or anyone you know are interested in participating, please contact Lisa McCafferty on 0863527015.
Lotto
There was no winner of this weeks Lotto Jackpot. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 10 and 16. Open draw winners were Carmel Brady and Sally Helferty. Next weeks draw takes place in Noras Bar Kilmacrennan and the Jackpot currently stands at €700.
