Senior Men
The lads made the long journey to Glencolumcille to take on Naomh Columba on Saturday evening. This was always going to be a tough battle against a very strong Glen side who are pushing hard for promotion. The lads put up a good fight but made a few costly mistakes that the home side capitalized on. What was a tough job became even harder when the Reds were reduced to 13 men which seen Pauric Mc Menamin getting what was a very harsh red card and Colm Melaugh a yellow then a black = Red. Unfortunately it proved a mountain to high to scale and the lads lost out by 7 points on a scoreline of Red Hughs 0-7 Naomh Columba 1-11
Reserves
The reserves also had a tough task on their hands and it proved so from the start. The home side were well on top for most of the first half and went in very comfortable at half time on a score line of 3-4 to 0-2 The game looked as if it was over. But the Red Hughs lads had other plans and came out with all guns blazing in the second half. Goals from Corey Gallagher & Shane Mc Guire got them back into the game. The Glen lads were stunned at what was happening as the Reds closed the gap to just 2 points. With no subs on the bench the lads were tiring and with the effort they had put in to get back in the game. The home side introduced 3 pairs of fresh legs that proved to be the difference. They added a few score to keep the game beyond the Cross lads. But it was a great effort from the lads who just left too much to do in the second half. Final Score was Red Hughs 2-8 Naomh Columba 3-9
Senior Ladies
The ladies have qualified for a play off with Malin after defeating Lifford at home this morning. The girls played some fine football and scored some fantastic points from play.
The girls have been putting in a lot of work recently and it is showing on the pitch that hard work pays off. Well done ladies and management. The game v Malin is the biggest game they will have ever played thus far and we encourage everyone to get behind the team. Final Score was Red Hughs 5-9 to 1-3

Under 12 Girls
Well done to the under 12 girls who won the Melissa Hamilton Memorial Cup on Sunday. They overcame a very strong Castlederg team in the first round and then defeated Mc Cumhaills in the final to become very deserving winners. Well done girls and management. Also to Mc Cumhaills, Strabane Sigersons, & Castlederg for taking part.
Under 13 Girls
The under 13 girls played Mc Cumhaills in the opening game of their league campaign this evening at home. The young girls were outstanding from start to finish. It was a rip roaring contest and both teams played some fantastic football. The Mc Cumhaills girls were physically much stronger but the Red Hughs girls made up for the lack of strength by showing great determination and spirit.
At times it looked like the Reds were tiring and the visitors were taking control. But the girls fought back strongly and went 4 points up with 5 minutes to go. But again the visitors struck back with a goal and 2 points to go one up. The Reds Amy Callaghan tapped over a mighty point in the final seconds to level the match and that’s how it ended. The final score was Red Hughs 3-8 Mc Cumhaills 2-11
The girls also played Glenfin away on Saturday morning. The girls were short a few of their stronger players and lost out to a very strong Glenfin side. But they showed great heart and determination and never gave up until the final whistle.
Well done girls and their managers. The girls are getting stronger every game. Keep up the hard work girls.
