Senior Ladies
The senior ladies played Convoy on Thursday evening in Convoy in the senior ladies league. Having not had a competitive match in almost a month the ladies were hungry for game time.
It was clear from the throw in that the Cross ladies were up for this one and piled on the pressure from the off. Dominating play all over the pitch. There were some magnificent scores and team play on display. The outcome of the game was never in doubt at any stage and the ladies fully deserved their victory. Final score Red Hugs 2-10 Convoy 1-3
There were a few outstanding performers on the night but it was a fantastic team effort that contributed to the victory. Under the guidance of Brendan O Meara the girls have been improving with every game and realizing their full potential. Well done to all involved

Senior Men
Red Hughs V Burt
The senior men had another disappointing result in the division 3 league encounter v Burt at home on Thursday evening. The first half was a very close affair with the visitors opening the scoring and going 2 points up before the Reds opened their account. It was tit for tat there after with the Burt men keeping their noses in front until the break going in 0-6 to 0-5 to the good.
The visitors came out of the blocks flying at the start of the second half scoring 3 unanswered points to go four up. The Reds battled to get back in the game but lacked that cutting edge going forward and found the scores hard to come by. With ten minutes to go the Cross lads were thrown a life line after a long ball into the box ended up in the Burt net to leave 3 points between them. But it was short lived as from the resulting kick out the visitors capitalized on a defensive error and immediately cancelled out the Reds goal with a goal of their own. As the day light disappeared so too did the hopes of a revival and the Burt lads cantered over the line to take the points. The final score was Red Hughs 1-7 Burt 1-12
Red Hughs v Ballyshannon
The Red Hughs seniors couldn’t overcome a determined Aodh Ruadh in Father Tierney Park tonight but the big positive for ‘An Bainisteoir’ Stephen Friel was the spirit shown. Down to bare bones with injuries, players abroad and county duties the Red Hughs lads battled from start to finish. Red Hughs were 3 to the good at the half time break 1-01 to 0-07. Colm Melaugh, Thomas McMenamin, Calvin Bradley and the ever accurate Damien Browne on the scoresheet. The Red Hughs reguard were superb in the opening period with McGlinchey, Pauric McMenamin, Shane Gallen and the Michael Sweeney providing the platform for attack.
In the middle of the park saw Thomas McMenamin and Damien Browne lording it for long periods with the wing forwards Kelly and Byrne getting breaking ball. The opening period of the second half was where Ballyshannon did the damage with 5 unanswered points before Browne again registered for Red Hughs. If the cross men could have prevented some key turnovers during this period there is no doubt the result could have been more favourable. However the key positive for Friel was Bradleys performance at CHF, pulling the strings and playing some accurate thru balls to the forward line as well as getting his name on the score sheet. Overall a great team performance without the result. Surely if the lads continue to knuckle down and get the likes of Kelly, Carlin, Browne, Gallagher, McMenamin, Bonner and the Melaugh’s back into contention for places the points will soon accumulate.
Reserves
The reserves also lost out to Ballyshannon on Saturday also missing some players due to work commitment. But the young lads gave everything but could not overcome a very experienced Ballyshannon outfit.Final score Red Hughs 1-8 Ballyshannon 2-12
Next game is away to Naomh Columba on Saturday evening. Reserve throw in 5pm Senior 6.30pm.

The under 21 semi final v Naomh Columba has been postponed until further notice.

Under 13 Girls
The girls play Mc Cumhaills at home this Wednesday evening in their first game of the league throw in 6.45pm
Under 13 boys
The lads play Milford this Wednesday away in Milford throw in 7pm.
Under 16 Girls
The under 16 girls played Letterkenny Gaels at home on Friday evening. The visitors opened the scoring going 2 points up before the Reds girls got going. Within minutes the game was all square and the Cross girls upped the tempo from there on. They dominated the first half there after and went in 5 points up at half time Red Hughs 1-7 Letterkenny Gaels 1-5
The young Cross ladies started sharp in the second half scoring a couple of early points to settle themselves back into the game after the break. It was the visitors turn to dominate and for the next ten minutes it was all Gaels pressure and moving forward at every opportunity. The Reds defense were under severe pressure and buckled at times. Before long the Letterkenny girls had taken a 1 point lead going into the last five minutes of the game. With only 2 minutes to play a fantastic move right from their own full back line seen Cathy Callaghan the centre half back playing a one two with Eimear Gallagher and blasting the ball to the net to take the lead once more. A late free from Eimear Gallagher sealed the victory in what was a very good game of football. The Final score was Red Hughs 3-11 Letterkenny Gaels 3-8

The girls next game is away to Malin next Sunday T.B.C.
Under 16 boys
The young lads were well beaten by a strong Naomh Colmcille side on Monday evening in the opening game of the championship. They battled well and never gave up despite the strength of the visitors.

Congratulations
The club would like to congratulate Stephen Mc Menamin who played the full 70 minutes V Dublin in Croke Park on Sunday. It was an outstanding performance from Stephen. He played a massive part in the victory breaking up a lot of the Dublin play and creating numerous scoring opportunities for the forwards. Well done Stephen from everyone at the club.
Melissa Hamilton Memorial Fun Day
Mellissa’s day kicks off this Sunday with a 5k fun walk/run at 12.30 registration from 11am at the clubhouse. Refreshments served afterwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, under 16’s are free. There will be bouncy castles, face painting and other kids entertainment on the day. There will be entertainment on the day by live band Overtime.
The Melissa Hamilton Memorial Cup Blitz for under 12 girls will also take place kicking off at 2.30pm
All proceeds will go to the Good As New Galway Cancer Bus. Please come out and support this great cause.
