The seniors and reserves experienced similar outcomes to their matches against Burt as they had less than three weeks earlier, with the seniors winning but the reserves being defeated.
Naomh Colmcille kept alive their league challenge with a home victory over neighbours Burt, less than three weeks after defeating the same opposition in the reverse fixture.
The visitors got off to a great start with the opening three points of the match in the opening five minutes, Joe Boyle was first off the mark for Burt with a pointed free in the first minute. Conor Harkin’s effort went over off the inside off the post, and this was followed by another converted placed ball from Sean McHugh. Good work from Ryan McKinley and Joe Donaghy gave Willie Gillespie the opportunity to get Naomh Colmcille’s opening point in the seventh minute. Soon afterwards Willie Gillespie got his fist to a ball in from Matthew Crossan to find the net for the home side. Another free from Sean McHugh levelled the match, before Naomh Colmcille re-gained the lead after a pass from Gerard Curran sent Willie Gillespie in to take a fisted point. Burt had numerous chances from placed balls over the next five minutes but failed to convert them. Sean McHugh was off target with a free before the visitors were awarded a penalty. Michael Lynch in the Naomh Colmcille goals made a tremendous save to his left and got the good luck his efforts deserved when the rebound was put wide. Sean McHugh and Joe Boyle had further missed efforts from frees before Joe Boyle pointed to level the match again in the 25th minute. The first half scoring concluded in the final minute of regulation time when Ricky Hegarty provided the pass for Ciaran Devine to send Naomh Colmcille in at the break leading on a 1-3 to 0-5 scoreline.
Joe Boyle had a long range free at the start of the second half saved by Michael Lynch, and Sean McHugh was off target with a free, before Dara Grant levelled the match once again. Ryan McErlean, on as a half time substitute, put Naomh Colmcille back into the lead. The same player then broke the ball from a Mark Dowds free for Matthew Crossan to extend the lead, and Matthew Crossan made it a three-point advantage with a free wide out on the right. Paul McHugh missed with a long range free for the visitors before Matthew Crossan scored another pointed free in the 17th minute. Joe Boyle got two quick points for the visitors to reduce the lead to two points, the second coming from an Enda McDermott pass. Ciaran Dowds pointed to reduce the lead to the minimum, and the home side survived a goalmouth scramble before Willie Gillespie made it a two point game. Burt had an effort narrowly wide and Willie Gillespie was off target with a free in added time. Full time score Naomh Colmcille 1-8 0-9 Burt.
