DEEPEST SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to the family & friends of the late Peggy Noone, Cloontagh, mother of our senior player Johny Noone . Our thoughts & prayers are with Dan, Johny and family circle at this sad time. Peggy was a great supporter of CLG Iorras at our home and away games. Ar dheis de do raibh a anam.

CLUB MEETING: There is a club meeting at 8.30pm on Wednesday night, can all members do their best to attend.

U14 GIRLS DONEGAL B COUNTY CHAMPIONS: Well done to our U14 girls who defeated Milford in the B County Final in Killygordon last Friday night, final score Urris 4-12 Milford 2-06. A great achievement for the girls their coaches, John Farren & Grace Hession and all who help out with this team.
The Urris girls came into the final as slight favourites as they had beaten Milford earlier in the campaign in Milford by a narrow margin. However their preparations had been hindered during the week by a hamstring injury to playmaker Saoirse Farren in a friendly against Moville. Otherwise Urris were at full strength for probably the first time this season.
The Doherty sisters, Cathy and Mary had almost complete control around the middle of the field with their excellent handling and positional sense. Ciara Parke in nets was finding them regularly with her accurate kick-outs. The first half was a tight affair, only one point separating the teams at half time, Urris leading 1-7 to 1-6. Milford lost their full-back early on and this allowed full-forward Saoirse to get some relatively easy scores. Mary got a point from play in the first half.

The second half was almost completely controlled by Urris whose fitness paid off. The defence was well controlled by Caoimhe Devlin at no.6, while her sister Caitlin was pulling the strings at centre half forward, scoring 2 great points from play. Clare McCarron was dominant at full back and she was given great cover by her corner backs, Rachel Devlin and Sorcha Hession. Aileen Doherty was steady at wing back and Ciara Duffy who is probably the most improved player this season, had an excellent second half. Cathy Doherty used her long kicks to great affect launching a series of attacks from midfield and she chipped in with a goal and a point. Enya Dillon at right half forward cut off the Milford supply from kick outs which had caused Urris some problems in the first period. The defence restricted Milford to one goal in the second half. “Find of the season”, Katelyn McDaid had an excellent second 30 minutes carrying the ball into the heart of the opposition’s defence. Corner forwards Jackie Ivers and Emma Harkin were a constant threat to the Milford rear guard with their movement inside the 13m line. The Milford cause wasn’t helped by an injury to one of their best players mid way through the second half. Urris substitutes Jessie Coyle, Ella Devlin and Shannon Doherty were unfortunate not to have started the game but had contributed well during the campaign. Erin and Chloe Doherty were ready for battle when the referee blew the final whistle.
The large Urris support celebrated with the team as captain Cathy collected the trophy. Final score Urris 4-12 Milford 2-6. Well done and congratulations to the girls on bringing the first silverware back to the new club house in Straid!!
