Ulster Heavyweights Clash As Derry Meet Donegal
“Derry and Donegal enter the Ulster Championship on the back of impressive League campaigns as they meet in a mouth-watering Quarter-Final at Celtic Park. Midfielders PJ McCloskey (Derry) and Martin McElhinney (Donegal) are likely to be central to the outcome and the pair have given their views ahead of a match that could prove pivotal in the battle for the Anglo-Celt.”
McIver Expects Massive Contest
“Derry manager Brian McIver believes his team’s meeting with Donegal is the biggest clash of the Championship’s opening round of fixtures. Having coached Donegal to a League title and watched many of the players he introduced to inter-county football win the 2012 All-Ireland, McIver is acutely aware of the challenge Jim McGuinness’ side will pose at Celtic Park. Derry have not won the Ulster title since 1998 and are hoping to reverse their defeat to Donegal at the same stage of the 2012 Ulster Championship.”
