Minor match report
It was a perfect evening for a game in Convoy. The red Hugh’s lads knew they would have to be at their best to overcome the men from Dunfanaghy.  The reds got off to a dream start after soaking up some early pressure from St Micheals. The big man James Carlin tucked over an early free and just a minute later Justin Mc Bride rattled the back of the St Micheals net after a long ball in from Johnny Carlin 1-1 to no score after 7 minutes. St Micheals then started to settle into the game scoring three points without reply to leave just one between them. Scoring machine James carlin then struck three in a row and take control once again. The lads from Dunfanaghy then started to up the tempo a long high ball into the danger area was fisted to the net to pull it back to the minimum once again.  With the St Micheals men now playing a sweeper in front of the danger man Justin the Reds were finding it harder to break through the defence until Stephen Mc Menamin went on an amazing run from his own half breaking through tackle after tackle and giving the ball to Justin who once again made no mistake finishing cooly to the back of the net. The cross lads were in the driving seat once again and added further scores from Gavin Wright and another from James Carlin opening the gap to six. St Micheals added another before the break to leave the halftime score 2-6 to 1-4  The lads from Dunfanaghy really took the game to the cross lads in the second half piling on the pressure and were pushing forward at every opportunity. The reds defence stood strong under pressure with the lads throwing everything in front of the ball. The gap was closed to three points and it was point for point after that. Scores from Johnny carlin, Justin Mc bride and James Carlin keeping three between them. With five minutes on the clock James got his last score and it was the best score of the game from almost 40 metres out and on the sideline it was an amazing score. It was backs to the wall once again with the St Micheals pushing for that golden goal Matthew Mc Connell pulled off an amazing save in the dying minutes and tipped another over. It was another dramatic victory for the young lads. Great team performance with James Carlin and Justin Mc Bride the outstanding performers on the night scoring 2-9 between them. They now face Na Rossa / Dungloe in the County semifinal on Wednesday the 30th at 7pm. Please come out and support the young lads.
