The senior and reserve teams had contrasting results in their matches at Urris on Sunday. The senior team’s winning start to the season continued but the reserves lost out. The scheduled home matches against Burt did not go ahead.
The seniors travelled to Urris on Sunday looking for their second win of the league season. The lads emerged victorious with 5 points to spare, winning on a scoreline of Urris 1-7 Naomh Colmcille 0-15.
The reserves took on Urris on Sunday lunchtime following on from their home win over Red Hughs. Unfortunately the lads lost out on a full time score of Urris 4-9 2-8 Naomh Colmcille.
The minors took on Letterkenny Gaels at O’Donnell Park on Wednesday in a play-off to determine the table-toppers for the Northern Board U18 Central League section. The Gaels had salvaged a draw with two scores in injury time in the league match in Newton in the final league match 9 days earlier. This time there was to be no comeback for the Gaels though and the lads won on a scoreline of Naomh Colmcille 4-10 2-12 Letterkenny Gaels. The lads now take on Gaoth Dobhair at Convoy CFE on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the semi-final.
The U14s overcame a slow start to defeat Letterkenny Gaels at Pairc Colmcille on Monday evening. The visitors established a 5 point lead in the opening 14 minutes before Naomh Colmcille finally got their first score a few minutes later. That turned out to be the start of better things to come for the home side, as they added on another 1-3 in the opening half, with a single point in reply from Letterkenny Gaels. This left the score at the interval Naomh Colmcille 1-4 0-6 Letterkenny Gaels.
An early point for the home side was soon cancelled out by a similar score for the Gaels at the start of the second half. However Naomh Colmcille went on to score 1-7 between the 6th and 21st minutes, before the Gaels found the net for their next score, with the score 2-12 to 1-7 in the home side’s favour. Three further points for Naomh Colmcille and an injury time point for the visitors completed the scoring. Final score Naomh Colmcille 2-15 1-8 Letterkenny Gaels.
