A Dermot Gallier goal 19 minutes into the second half swung the pendulum back Naomh Ultan’s way in a tight contest in Dunkineely on Sunday. Downings were first to score, then Naomh Ultan hit four on the bounce but there was never more than two points between the sides once the visitors got it back to 0-4 apiece on 13 minutes. A Downings goal approaching half-time gave them the advantage until Gallier regained the lead for Naomh Ultan and they clung on to it until the final whistle to win by a single point 1-11 to 1-10.

It was even tighter in Páirc Aodh Rua where Naomh Bríd and Red Hughs were nip and tuck for much of the game with the home side maintaining a slender lead throughout. Aodh Rua had opened a a three point gap when a Gary McCafferty goal midway through the second half to level matters and a follow-up point saw the visitors pull ahead. Red Hughs rallied, however, and came back to force a 1-5 to 0-8 draw. In Páirc Naomh Mhuire, it was a slow start between Convoy and Naomh Colmcille. The home side had two points on the board in the first five minutes but the next score was their first goal at the beginning of the second quarter. It was five minutes before half time when Naomh Colmcille raised a flag and 1-3 to 0-2 at the break. Ten minutes into the second half the scores were level at 1-3 to 0-6 but a goal in the 41st minute re-invigorated Naomh Mhuire and they ran out six points winners 2-8 to 0-8.

At Páirc Uí Shiadhail Fand Gaels were much too strong for Malin. Gaeil Fhánada took early control of this contest and were 1-5 to 0-2 up within ten minutes, the goal from Conor McGonigle coming seven minutes into the game. Malin to their credit fought back and kept in touch for a while. It was 1-7 to 0-5 when Eoghan Carr’s goal knocked the fight out of Malin and they cruised to a 3-20 to 1-10 victory. At the Banks on Friday evening Burt trailed by two points at the break 2-3 to 1-4 but a strong finish to the game seen them prevail on a 2-6 to 1-12 scoreline.

Burt sit top of Yes Chef Catering Division on 9 league points after five games, three clear of Gaeil Fhánada and Red Hughs although the Killygordon side do have a game in hand.
