All County Under 17 Championship – Division 2

Division 2 is played on a regional basis. In Inishowen unbeaten Malin topped the league section of the u-17 Darren Downey/Gary McLaughlin Cup and met fourth place Buncrana at home in the semi-final last night. In a highly competitive game they won by the minimum margin:

Sept 6th Malin 3-10 Buncrana 2-12

The other semi-final will be played this evening where Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin entertain Carndonagh in Maurice McMenamin Memorial Park, Muff. The game throws in at 18.30 and the ref is Paddy McGonigle.

There is one round left in the Southern Board Division 2 U-17 League. Naomh Naille with maximum points from 9 games are the runaway leaders. Na Cealla Beaga and Naomh Columba were vying for second place, but Killybegs won a crunch tie between the two rivals on Friday evening and having also won in Glen they will now finish runners up regardless of the results in Round 10. They will, however be playing Naomh Columba again in the semi-final in two weeks time. The other semi-final will see Naomh Naille play either Kilcar or Naomh Ultan who are in direct opposition this Friday with the winners progressing to the semi-final.

The two top teams in the Northern Board move straight to a Divisional final so St Eunans are a guaranteed finalist and will be joined by St Michaels if they win their catch-up game against Fanad Gaels tomorrow evening. The final Round 10 games will be played Friday evening Sept 10th and are as follows:

Letterkenny Gaels v Fanad Gaels

St Eunans v Convoy

St Michaels v Robert Emmets

Both finalists progress to the All county league as do the winners of a third-place play-off between St Michaels/Convoy and Letterkenny Gaels. The bottom two teams Gaeil Fhánadá and Roibeart Emmets will play a Shield final.
