Two valuable League Points as Donegal Hurlers win in Wicklow and Ronan McDermott celebrates 100th appearance

A very hard earned win in Aughrim this afternoon seen Donegal maintain their 100% record in Allianz Roinn 2B. It all seemed done and dusted at half-time with Donegal holding an eleven point lead with goals from Ronan McDermott and Bernard Lafferty helping them to a 2-8 to 0-3 point lead.

A stunning first ten minutes of the second half saw Wicklow close the gap back to two points 2-6 to 2-8 before Davin Flynn open Donegal’s second half account. Wicklow hit back immediately before Donegal again took control to lead by 2-14 to 2-8 before a third Wicklow goal set up a grandstand finish. The visitors, however finished the stronger and two Davin Flynn points sealed the win for Donegal.

It was a special day for Ronan McDermott who scored the opening goal for Donegal today against Wicklow in his 100th appearance for the County. Seen here with his parents John and Majella.

Elsewhere in Roinn 2B Derry won in Mayo on a 1-14 to 4-24 scoreline and Sligo beat London by nine points in Bekan. Round 4 next Sunday will see Donegal face a Derry team which tops the table on points difference.
