Thank you to the Donegal Seniors for a wonderful and entertaining year and to all the fans who supported the team throughout

What has been a very good year for Donegal football – with trophies at national and provincial level and promotion back to Division 1 – ended in a rain-sodden Castlebar on Saturday evening. The squad and management can hold their heads high having given their all in a high octane contest and had accuracy in front of goal evident all year not deserted the team at a crucial period in the second half we would conceivably be traveling in our droves to Croke Park next weekend. Credit to Mayo, however, who were deserved winners on the day and the best of luck to them in the rest of their campaign.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all the supporters who made the long, and often slow, journey up and down to Castlebar and to all fans who supported the team right through the league and championship campaigns. The players are very appreciative of all the support and the lift it gives particularly at crucial times in games. Players now return to their clubs and, together, the squad and supporters, can look forward to a successful campaign in Division 1 and onto the heady days of 2020 championship.

A final thank you to all the sponsors, business and fans who provided financial support for the team’s training fund throughout the year. From attending fund-raisers to buying car stickers every euro helped. Tír Conaill abú.
