On  Saturday last CLG An Tearmainn hosted an Ulster Gaa/ IFA initiative, where 14 of our young people were tutored the skills of GAA coaching. The group’s training in these skills commenced on Bank holiday Monday, August 3rd, with a series of webinars and two practical sessions at the pitch in the Burn road.  A final session was to evaluate their abilities, in which they all did very well, completed the first stage of the programme. The next stage for these future coaches was to volunteer hours and assist Termon’s club coaches in their training sessions. The coaches were delighted to have the additional help.
This was a fantastic opportunity for the youth of the club area to gain the experience of coaching from a young age can only bode well for the future. The tutors were Proinsias O Kane Ulster Gaa and Daniel from Irish Football Association (NI). This initiative is in conjunction with the ‘sport uniting communities’ which is coordinated by Ulster Gaa, Irish Rugby and the IFA. This is the first of its kind in ulster at the moment and the only one being delivered in Donegal. CLG An Tearmainn are privileged to be part of this initiative and hope that these young people go on to use the skills and experience gained within the club. Thank you to all involved for making this happen.
