CLUB NOTES FOR WEEK ENDING SUNDAY 24 JULY 2016
DONEGAL MINOR TEAM : CONGRATULATIONS TO ENDA McCORMICK
25 years ago this club was honoured by Kevin McGettigan and Oddie McBride lining out for Donegal in the Ulster minor final,as have many other Termon men and women over the years, and on Sunday last in Clones, the silver jubilee of that game was marked by Enda McCormick, Kevin’s nephew taking to the field in the number 15 jersey for Donegal. The boys secured victory over Derry on a scoreline of 2:10 to 1:11 with Enda playing his part in the win. As many have commented over the past few days, Oddie and Kevin were heroes for the younger lads in Termon at that time, and we know that our young players of today admire and one day hope to emulate Enda’s achievement in representing his club in the forward line of the county team. (PS in 1991 Donegal beat Tyrone in the minor final on a scoreline of 1:10 to 1:9, and we also had a player represent the club on the senior panel that year, one Mr Tommy Ryan, and, of course, we all know what that senior team went on to win in 1992!)
Last week’s lotto draw took place in McClaffertys with 2, 11, 12 and 19 the numbers drawn. There was no jackpot winner, and the match 3 prize was shared by 4 winners, Eddie Russell, Lauren Russell, Pauric McCafferty and Noel Carr. Open draw winners were James Boyle and Manus & Dan O’Connell. Next week’s draw takes place in the Glenveagh Inn with Conor Tinney and Kevin McElwaine co-ordinating, and the jackpot is €1,850.
Bingo continues to go from strength to strength, with our cash prizes of €2,600 sending many customers happy after their evening at An Craoibhín, where bingo is at 9pm each Friday night.
The seniors and reserves travel to Dungloe on Sunday, with throw in for the reserves at 1:30 and 3pm for the seniors.
Congratulations to our minor ladies on their win away to Milford on Monday night, next fixture to be confirmed
