Presentation

Members of St. Michael’s GAA Club gathered in the Clubhouse in Dunfanaghy recently to honour one of the founding members of the club John Durning. John originally from Dunfanaghy and Creeslough played for the club and was also an early administrator with the club serving as an Assistant Treasurer and Secretary in the early years before emigrating to Philadelphia in 1957. Although he has lived in the USA since and currently resides in Philadelphia he kept in touch with Donegal and remained a loyal supporter of the club and he also takes a great interest in the Donegal senior team and has greatly enjoyed the county’s success in the past few years. John is also very much involved in the GAA and in the wider Donegal community in Philadelphia. In a talk at the Presentation Function John gave an insight into how St. Michael’s were formed and recalled some of the early matches and successes of the club.

The MC For the evening was Liam McElhinney Chairman of St. Michael’s GAA Club and Mick McGinley Dunfanaghy and Mick McGinley (Hudai).
