There were three games in Marley Travel Division 2 this weekend with wins for Naomh Columba, Aodh Ruadh and Ardara.
An Clochán Liath 0-11 Naomh Columba 2-10
Aodh Ruadh 3-12 An Tearmainn 1-11
Ard an Ratha 2-10 Naomh Naille 1-9
Goals from Paddy Byrne and Ryan Gillespie were the deciding factor as Naomh Columba continued their impressive run of form. A poor start to their campaign – where the Glen men lost three games in succession – is well behind them now having won two and drawn one of their last three games. They are now level on five points with Termon and Dungloe, having played a game less.
Trailing after 15 minutes, a strong second quarter saw Aodh Ruadh turn over with a 2-9 to 1-6 lead at the break in Fr Tierney Park. While Termon battled hard the Ernesiders remained comfortably ahead to the final whistle. Nathan Boyle, Darren Drummond and Shane McGrath were the goal-scorers for Aodh Ruadh, while Enda McCormack found the net for Termon. Both sides finished with 14 men.
With a vital win over Na Cealla Beaga last weekend, Ard an Ratha moved to the top of the table on points difference with a vital win over fellow promotion contenders Naomh Naille in Pearse Memorial Park. Nauls led in the early stages of the game but a shoulder injury to Stephen Griffin – the scorer of Naomh Naille’s only goal – robbed them of one of their most influential players. Two Ardara goals in the third quarter – from Lorcan O’Donnell and Gareth Concarr – put the home side on the road to victory.
