Malin GAA Club Notes 29th Aug 2015

RADIO NA GAELTACHTA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Malin were defeated by Glenswilly at the weekend on a scoreline of Glenswilly 3-09 Malin 1-08 in a game played in poor conditions. The other result in the group saw Gaoth Dobhair defeat Seam MacCumhail so the group is still wide open with Glenswilly on four points, Gaoth Dobhair on two with Malin and MacCumhail’s both on one. Malin play away to Gaoth Dobhair in their final group game next Sunday at 3.00. The half time score was Glenswilly 1-03 Malin 0-04 but the home side pulled away in the second half with great support play and Michael Murphy prominent, with frees keeping Malin in touch. Malin team and scorers: Darragh McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin, Damien Harkin, Gary Farren, Stephen McLaughlin, Declan Walsh, Charles Byrne, Anthony Kelly (0-02), Seamus Houghton (0-01), Christopher McLaighlin, Seamus Doherty, Dan McDaid (0-01), Brendan McLaughlin, Matthew Byrne (1-04), Paul McLaughlin: Subs used Darren McLarkey for Brendan McLaughlin, Terence Doherty for Dan McDaid and John Gerard McLaughlin for Seamus Houghton. The reserve game which was scheduled for after the senior game was called off due to the poor condition of the pitch. They are down to play Gaoth Dobhair next Sunday at 1.30 and the game with Glenswilly has to be rescheduled so check facebook for details. The club would appeal to all members to make an effort to support the team on Sunday in the biggest game of the year.

UNDERAGE

The Under Fourteen Boys had a great trip away and they would like to thank Michael and Ann Doherty (Owen) and the Castletown club from County Meath for their hospitality over the weekend.

Malin held a very successful under 10 Blitz on Saturday with teams from Malin, Termon, Dungiven, Glenullin, Glenswilly, Naomh Padraig Muff and MacCumhails all involved. Well done to all coaches and mentors who saw very fine displays of football with winners from Malin, Termon and MacCumhails. Special mention to the all the players who took part, both boys and girls, showing some fantastic skills at this early age.

LOTTO

There was no winner of this weeks jackpot of €2100. The numbers drawn were 3-2-5-6-7-4-1 and the €50 winner was Gráine Byrne, Beaugh with the €20 sellers prize going to Christopher McLaughlin, Auchayclay. Next weeks jackpot is €2150.
