Malin GAA Club Notes 21/07/2016

All County League Division 2 Fixture                Malin V Naomh Náille at 3:00pm on Sunday 24th of July in Connolly Park, reserves at 1.30pm all support welcome. Malin Gaa Summer Camp The Cul Camp was held last week and was a huge success with 178 children in attendance We would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to another successful Cul Camp this year. Thank you to all coaches for coaching all week, they did a great job with such large numbers of kids. Thank you to the parents for sending their children, they were all so well behaved and a credit to their families. Thank you to all the coaches within our Club who took some time this week to also help at the Camp, in addition to the teams they usually coach. Thank you to Sean Owen & Martin Fildara for the buses all week. Thanks to Celia & Suzanne for helping in the Tuck Shop all week and to David, Daniel and Suzanne for getting the Clubhouse & grounds ready for action everyday. A special thank you to the children for turning out in such large number, they were just fantastic all week. We would also like to thank all of our young Club Members/Players who helped at the camp all week including Seanain McLaughlin (F), Ciara McLaughlin (F), Diane McGilloway, Tara Kelly, Erin McLaughlin (F), Katie Farren, Siobhan Farren, Ronan Lafferty, Matthew Mullarkey, Michael Walsh, Adam McGonagle, Ronan Kelly, Jack McLaughlin(F), Micheal McCarron, Patrick McLaughlin(F), Darragh McGeoghegan, Ronan McLaughlin, Diarmuid McCarron & Peter McCallion. Thanks to the County players who attended the Camp yesterday for photos, it was great to see Caolan McGonagle in advance of the Ulster Final on Sunday. Finally thank you to two of the most important contributors to the Summer Camp, Sean McLaughlin (O) as Head Coach and Maria McLaughlin(F) as the woman who makes it all happen. They both did a fantastic job making everything run smoothly all week. A lot of hard-work goes in behind the scene and the camps success just shows that this hard-work has paid off.

The Mary Houghton Competition          The annual Mary Houghton competition will take place on Wednesday 20th of July at 7:00pm in Connolly Park. All girls aged under 14 and under 12 are welcome to come along and join in the competition which is kindly sponsored by the Houghton family

Sliabh Sneacht Sponsered Climb                  There will be a Sliabh Sneacht sponsered climb on Saturday the 23rd of July in aid of our minor board. Buses will leave the clubhouse at 10:00am with the climb starting at 11:00am. Sponser cards will be available through all underage teams in the coming week. Everyone welcome on the day and all children are asked to be accompanied by an adult.

Lotto                        This weeks jackpot of €850 was won by Ann Gallagher Muff, Culdaff. The numbers drawn were 3-6-2-1-5-7-4. Next week’s jackpot is €500.

Underage                  A little bit of history was made last Tuesday in Connolly Park, when the Malin Minor Ladies team played their first ever game. The newly formed team played against Buncrana and were narrowly beaten by 7-09 to 6-09. With a strong team starting from Tara Kelly in goals, to Seanain McLaughlin, Megan Harkin, Katie Farren, Alanna McDaid, Sarah Monagle, Breda Doherty and Aoife McColgan. Right up to Niamh Doherty, Siobhan Farren, Ciara McLaughlin and Diane McGilloway in the half and full forward lines. Well done to the team on such a strong first team performance. The minor girls have training every Monday at 8:00pm. All girls from aged 15 upwards and new members are welcome to attend. The under 12 girls lost the second leg of their semi-final away against Urris which ends their season for the year, well done to all girls getting this far and to their coaches. The girls under 10’s finals day is on the Saturday morning of the 23rd of July at 10.30am in Urris with the girl’s under 8’s finals day on Friday evening the 22nd of July at 6:30 in Carndonagh. The under 12 boys have made it through to the Gerry O’Neill (15-a-side) finals with the A team playing Naomh Padraig, Muff in Buncrana next Sunday 24th of July at 6:30 and the B team also play Naomh Padraig in Carndonagh on Friday 22nd of July at 7:00pm. The club would urge as much support as possible for these teams in their respective finals and good luck to all players and coaches involved.
