Malin GAA Club Notes 14 Sept 2015

RADIO NA GAELTACHTA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Malin were well beaten in the quarter final of the Senior Championship last Sunday against St. Michael’s on a scoreline of St Michael’s 3-15 Malin 1-05. The team and scorers on the day was Darragh McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin, Damien Harkin, Gary Farren, Stephen McLaughlin, Declan Walsh, Charles Byrne, Seamus Houghton, Dan McDaid, Christopher McLaughlin (0-01), Seamus Doherty (0-01), Darren McLarkey, Brendan McLaughlin (0-01), Matthew Byrne (0-01) and Paul McLaughlin (1-00). Subs used: John Gerard McLaughlin for Michael McLaughlin, Anthony Kelly (0-01) for Darren McLarkey and Terence Doherty for Matthew Byrne. The team now have five league matches to try and stay in division one with home matches against Glenswilly, Kilcar and St. Michael’s and away matches to Kilcar and Gaoth Dobhair.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE NEW GYM

Joe McHugh, Minister of State, department of Arts Heritage and Gaeltacht, officially opened the club’s new gym last Saturday. The Junior Minister was helpful to the club in awarding €60,000 for gym equipment.

UNDERAGE

Malin under 13’s lost against Naomh Padraig last Friday.

LOTTO

The jackpot of €2250 was won this week by Colm Curley, Magherard, Malin. The numbers drawn were 3-5-7-4-1-2-6. The €20 sellers prize went to Christopher McLaughlin, Auchayclay. Next weeks jackpot is €500.

Get Fit With Charlie

Fitness classes with Charles Byrne are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 6.30pm for women and 8.00pm for men in the Malin Gaa centre. There is still time to sign up for the six week programme for €60 per person or pay as you go €5 per class. This fitness class caters for beginners and people of every fitness level.

The club would like to congratulate Brendan and Nuala McGonagle on the recent birth of their son.

The club would like to wish long serving club stalwart and current club president Patrick McLaughlin (r) a speedy recovery from his recent accident.
