Global Hydrate have joined Donegal’s elite team of sponsors and will be meeting the hydration needs of our football and hurling squads over the next three years. Global Hydrate is one of the first Tetra Top sustainable water brands to give consumer’s hydration and an eco-friendly alternative to bottled water. Earlier this year Borrisoleigh Bottling Limited (BBL) launched two new environmentally sensitive boxed water products to the market under the Global Hydrate brand, using water from a famous Artesian well and bottled on site in the small village of Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary. The packaging reflects a sensitivity for the environment and seeks to lead the industry towards a more responsible and sustainable future. The first pallets arrive tomorrow in time for Donegal’s Round 2 Nicky Rackard Hurling match against Armagh in Letterkenny on Saturday and the footballer’s opening Ulster championship encounter against Tyrone in MacCumhaill Park this Sunday.

CLG Dhún na nGall are delighted to be able to get in tune with the growing movement in global environmental policy against the use of single-use-plastic. Global Hydrate’s product approach provides the consumer with an environmentally friendly packaging choice and the company has also launched a brand aimed at younger fans – Captain Hydrate is a  330ml Kids Carton, approved for schools, and ideal for school lunch boxes with the aim of educating children on the benefits of sustainable packaging.

The Donegal footballers will be using the 500ml Tetra Top Carton, made from 88% renewable material (paperboard and sugarcane), which is fully recyclable and will hopefully put a sizeable dent in the 60 billion plastic water bottles produced annually around the world that end up in landfills or our oceans. It is very eco-friendly and contains less than 15% fossil-based plastic compared to a standard bottle of water, on a per litre of water basis.
