Contrasting Fortunes for Donegal’s Senior Teams

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Sun 3rd Feb

Two rounds into the Allianz National Leagues and its contrasting fortunes for our football and hurling teams. The footballers top Roinn 2 with late surges seeing off Clare in Ennis last Sunday and rescuing three valuable points against Meath last night. Next up is a trip to Tipp with throw-in in Semple Stadium at 2.00 pm on Sunday Feb 10th.

The hurlers, on the other hand, have come up against two of the strongest teams in Roinn 2B and are pointless after losses at home to Kildare and away to Derry. In both games, after strong first halves Donegal found the going more difficult in the second period. The hurlers are not back in inter-county action until Feb 17th when they host Wicklow in what looks is a “must win” tie for both counties.
