Ed Byrne was elected as Assistant Secretary for the coming year. It was the only officer post that went to a vote with the Na Cealla Beaga club person winning out against Naomh Mhuire, Conmhaigh’s Sinead Breen. Ed will also be the delegate to Ulster Council Convention and Cloich Chean Fhaola’s Seamus O’Domhnaill will be the delegate to National Convention both surviving challenges from Ryan Walsh from Realt na Mara.

 

Two new officers were appointed to the Board, David McLoone from Aodh Ruadh is the new vice-chairman and Michael McGeehin replaces Conor McDermott as coaching officer. Conor has served his full five years in the post.

 

Donegal GAA Chairman Mick McGrath’s address to the 2021 County Convention announced that a new three year Strategic Plan for the County would be launched in the Summer of 2022. Among the other key points in his address:

 

he noted that 42 fixtures were played in the Donegal GAA Centre this year – this was too many and this practice is currently being reviewed;

a total of 4,650 children were coached by the County coaches over the course of the year with a further 3,500 odd attending Cúl Camps;

he welcomed the new 5 year partnership with LYIT;

the House Draw generated a health net profit of €817K;

a sale agreement has been reached for the former dressing room at the former County team training ground at Drumboe.

 

The chairman also paid tribute to outgoing officers Seamus O’Domhnaill, vice chairman and Conor McDermott, coaching officer, and thanked them for their considerable service to CLG Dhún na nGall.
