The Donegal u20 Development Squad landed the county’s first trophy of 2022 when they won the Leo Murphy Cup in Letterkenny yesterday on the back of an emphatic second half performance. Second half goals from Keelan Dunleavy and Bobby McGettigan were the key scores.

The first half was lower key. Donegal turned over at half-time just two points ahead 0-6 to 1-1. Despite dominating possession their first score from play was not until the 28th minute and Tyrone had other opportunities for goals. Dunleavey struck almost immediately on the resumption to give Donegal a 1-6 to 1-1 lead that better reflected their dominance. Tyrone threatened a comeback scoring the next two points but Donegal struck four on the bounce and never looked in trouble thereafter with substitute McGettigan putting the outcome largely beyond doubt.

Donegal’s Ulster Council Delegate and fellow St Eunan’s man presented the trophy to captain Kieran Tobin.
