Cloughaneely GAA Club Notes 09/06/2015

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Tue 9th Jun

Ní raibh lá maith ag Cloich Cheannfhaola sa bhaile in éadan Naomh Muire Dé Domhnaigh seo chaite. Níor bhain Cloich Cheannfhaola ceachtar den dá chluiche. Chríochnaigh an fhoireann tacaíochta ar chomhscór 0-07|1-04; agus buaileadh na sinsir 2-06|0-09.

Naomh Muire travelled to Páirc Naomh Fionán to face Cloughaneely in what was the second encounter for these teams in the Division 2 League. Having lost their own home game to Cloughaneely, Naomh Muire came with a plan to ensure they did not leave empty handed on Sunday afternoon.

Reserves: Despite being reduced to 14 men for the entire 2nd half, our reserves managed to secure a draw thanks to a point scored in the dying minutes of the game; final score 0-07|1-04. They manage to remain at the top of the league table!

Seniors:
The seniors also had a tough battle on their hands in what is a very tight division 2 league. There was little between the teams in what was a lively game with plenty of bite. The home side got the opening scores of the game with points from Eamonn Curran and Jason McGee. Naomh Muire, determined not to be left trailing, responded strongly within a goal and a point within 1 minute, thanks to Harry Harden and Paul Boyle. Naomh Muire’s goal came from a well placed long ball into the Naomh Muire forward line, which found Boyle who successfully managed to round Cloughaneely’s keeper to find the back of the net to register Naomh Muire’s first goal of the game. Cloughaneely attempted to recoup the deficit after the goal with further points from Declan McGarvey, Ciaran Scanlon and a free from Denis Boyle. But thanks to points from Naomh Muire’s Darragh White and Paul Boyle, Naomh Muire went in at the interval with a 1 point cushion
HT Score: CCF 0-05, Naomh Muire 1-03
It was all to play for in the second half with a one point margin in the way for the home side. Denis Boyle managed to draw the teams level with a converted free within the 34 min; but a point from Sean Yank Boyle shortly after kept the visitors ahead. Naomh Muire got another boost in the 40th minute when Cloughaneely’s Eamonn Curran was shown the side-line after a 2nd yellow, for what the Ref saw, was a yellow card offence in the penalty zone. Naomh Muire’s Harry Harden expertly drove the penalty home to clock up Naomh Muires 2nd goal; this was swiftly followed by a point from Naomh Muire’s Adrian O’Gara. Cloughaneely did their utmost to knock of the points, with scores from Cian McFadden, Denis Boyle and Declan McGarvey. There was 3 points in it entering the dying minutes of the game and Cloughaneely’s attempt at long balls in failed to produce the desired results.
FT Score: CCF 0-09, Naomh Muire 2-06

There will also be no parking permitted along the road which runs adjacent to the club house – this is a private road and only residents will be permitted access along that road.
