Five games were played in Brian McCormick Division 1 over the weekend:

Fri, 05 Jul, Bundoran 2-13 St Eunan’s 4-14
Sat, 06 Jul, Glenswilly 0-13 Naomh Conaill 3-19
Sun, 07 Jul, Cloughaneely 2-11 Milford 0-14,              Sean Mac Cumhail 1-10, Kilcar 2-14          Gaoth Dobhair 0-20 St Michael’s 1-16

The first game was on Friday evening in Bundoran where a series of un-forced defensive errors cost Realt na Mara at least three goals. The game was still in the balance at the end of normal time when Realt na Mara’s Johnny Boyle blazed a goal chance wide having converted an almost identical chance earlier in the half. Eunan’s got the next, and decisive, score when a Realt defender inexplicably kicked a sideline free backwards and straight to Rory Carr 21 m from the Realt goal and the full-forward made the most of the present to blast the ball to the net.

Naomh Conaill had a relatively easy win in Glenswilly on Saturday. Before the game commenced both sides linked arms for a minute’s silence in memory of the late Manus Kelly and Naomh Conaill’s chairperson, David Kelch, presented a €250 cheque to be donated to the Kelly family’s charity of choice.

Cill Chartha pulled away from MacCumhaills in the second quarter, leading 0-9 to 0-3 at the break and a Paddy McShane goal a minute into the new half sealed matters. Sunday’s other two games were nip and tuck throughout. Baile na nGalloglach started the strongest in Falcarragh but a goal for the home side levelled matters in the sixteenth minute and there was never more than a point between the sides until half time when the scores were level 1-4 to 0-7. Another Cloughaneely goal on the re-start proved to be the crucial score and while Milford got to within a point at the end of normal time, two additional time scores sealed it for the home side. Two valuable league points for Cloich Cheann Fhaola that lifts them four league points clear of Milford and Sean MacCumhaill at the foot of the table.

Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Micheál matched each other score for score until three minutes before half-time when a Colm McFadden goal put the visiotrs three up and it was 1-9 to 0-9 at half-time. Three unanwsered points for the home side levelled matters and while St Michaels went two in front again, the teams entered the final quarter on level terms but Gaoth Dobhair had the better of the next fifteen minutes and were three up the end of normal time. St Michael’s pulled two back in added time but the home side held out and St Michaels remain two points above the drop zone.
