Senior Ladies Football

The Senior ladies got their first win of the season in O’Donnell Park on Sunday morning. It took 10 minutes in for the first score to be registered. It was St.Eunans who got the first score and it was a goal. Carn went up the other end and scored a point of their own. Carn started to dominate most of the half with some superb displays of play from all around the field. Carn went in at half time with a 1-02 to 0-03 deficit. Carn started the second half just as they finished the first with a fine team score. Carn dominated all around the field from goalkeeper to the full forward line. Carn were awarded a goal when a long ball was launched in and it caused some confusion between the St.Eunans keeper and full back and it trickled into the bottom corner. Carn came out deserved winners with a fine team display. Everyone played their part in today’s win. Carn will hope to keep this momentum up going into the next game. Team: Yvonne McElhinney, Noreen Duffy, Rosie McColgan, Sinead Burke, Georgina Gordon, Caroline Kelly, Aislinn Gibbons, Una Burke, Grainne Byrne, Sheila Doherty, Anita Doherty, Niamh McDaid, Mairead Doherty, Sally McClure, Donna McLaughlin, Ciara Gibbons, Cliona Gibbons, Tamara Duffy, Siobhan Doherty, Dannielle McDaid, Trudi McLaughlin

Mens Senior and Reserve Football

Our Senior team had two games scheduled for this weekend and ended up playing none. Their first game planned for Saturday evening against Pettigo at home was cancelled as Pettigo were unable to travel to Carndonagh. On Sunday the team made the long trip to Na Rossa to arrive at a flooded pitch so this also meant no game. They are now due to play Milford in the Championship on Saturday. Training continues this week Monday and Wednesday in Foden.

Underage Football

Underage training for our Under 8’s, 10’s and 12’s continues every Saturday morning in Foden at 11.00am.

GAA Fundamentals

Due to the growing numbers at our GAA Fundamentals training for Under 6’s, training will now take place in the Carndonagh Community School Gym on a Thursday evening from 6.15pm-7pm.

Under 8 Football

Our Under 8 team hosted Naomh Colmcille in a blitz on Saturday morning in Foden. We had 30 Carn players involved, everybody played very well and are improving with each game. Thanks to all the coaches and also to the parents who provided the refreshments and helped with the tea.

Under 12 Girls Football

Our Under 12 girls travelled to Buncrana on Sunday morning for their first game of the Donegal league. The girls lost to an older Buncrana side but put up a good fight .The girls will play their second match against Burt later this week-details will be available on facebook.

Under 12 Boys Football

Our Under 12 Boys travelled to Naomh Padraig on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately Naomh Padraig proved too strong for both our teams but the boys put in a great effort and it was great to see a squad of 23 boys available to play.

Under 14 Girls Football

The under 14 girls played Burt on Friday night in Burt. There were 8 players unavailable to play due to injury, sickness and other commitments. We still had 16 girls on the pitch which shows the importance of having big numbers available to teams in order for games to go ahead. Carndonagh had an easy win against a very young Burt team. The Burt girls showed great determination throughout the game but the Carn girls were much too strong for them. The team on the night: Tara Farren, Elaine McLaughlin, Ciara Harkin, Enya Diver, Demi Donaghy, Emma Doherty, Eimear O’Donnell, Megan Harkin, Jade Doherty, Briana Tully, Niamh Kelly, MaryKate McCrossan, Emer Doherty, Laura Doherty, Grainne Monagle and Muireann Porter. The girls next and last game in this round will be against Convoy, no date set yet, but this will be a much tougher game so all players should attend training in the next few weeks in preparation for the game. The winning team will go through to the next round.

Under 14 Boys Football

The Under 14 boys put in a great performance before going down to St Michaels by 5-15 to 2-11 at Foden on Friday evening in the Northern board semi-final. Carn played very well for large parts of the game. Ronan McLaughlin hit 2-02 from play in a great individual display. Carn also got great scores from Will Quinn and Rory Lynch. The whole team can be very proud of their efforts. Team. Kyle Harkin, Josh Diver, Paul McCallion, Connor McLaughlin, Adam McCarron, Shay McLaughlin, Josh McDaid, Will Quinn, Paul Doherty, Ronan McLaughlin, Mark McLaughlin, James Kelly, Conor Lafferty, Cian Burke, Rory Lynch. SUBS: Seamus Logue, Christopher Lavelle, Tom Smith, DJ O’Connor, Ben Harkin, Coran Donaghey, Ronan Doherty, Conor McGonagle.

Under 16 Boys Football

Unfortunately our Under 16 Boys lost their under 16A Final on Sunday evening against Naomh Padraig. The final score was Carndonagh 2-09(15) Naomh Padraig 3-11(20). Our boys put in a great effort and were unlucky.

Underage Hurling

Underage hurling training continues every Friday evening in Foden. Under 8 from 5pm-6pm, Under 10 and Under 12 from 4pm-5pm.

Minor Hurling

The Minor Hurlers grinded out a super result against a resolute Letterkenny Gaels team on Thursday night of 4-08 to 0-08. The game was on a knife edge until a flurry of Carn Goals in the last 6 minutes finished the game off. At half time the score was 1-3 to 0-6 and the boys knew they needed to up it. It was a low scoring start to the second half but 3 late goals from Conor O Donnell who was entered into the square with 10 to go, meant it was a 3rd victory for the Carndonagh and leaves silverware to be won in the coming weeks depending on results. Our fate lies in results in other games this week, but as it stands we are in a B League Final and play off for A Championship.

Team: Keelin White; Nathan McLarkey, Keenan Callaghan, PJ Walker; Cormac Monagle, James Monagle; Michael Doherty; Donal Doherty, Anthony Doherty; Darragh McCormick, Conor O Donnell, Adam McLaughlin; Paddy Monagle, Darragh Lafferty, Paddy Callaghan. Subs: Cathal Doherty
