Buncrana GAA were in action yesterday in the Ulster Junior Club Quarter Final against Armagh champions Collegeland at the Athletic Grounds.

Buncrana got on the scoreboard first with a point from Oisin Doherty on 2 minutes. This was followed 4 minutes later by one from Caolan McGonagle. Collegeland got their first point on the 10 minute mark. Odhran Doherty tagged on another point for Buncrana from a free before Buncrana’s first half golden  with John Campbell getting 1-1 in the space of 2 minutes, giving the Scarvey men a 6 point lead on 20 minutes. An exchange of scores over the next 10 minutes saw that lead reduced to 4 points at the half time break; Buncrana 1-5 Collegeland 0-4.

 

Buncrana started the second half on song with Odhran Doherty scoring three unanswered points in the first 5 minutes. The Armagh champions were not caving in, however, with Collegeland scoring three unanswered points of their own over the following five minutes to bring it back to a 4 point game.

 

Buncrana took control of the rest of the match, outscoring Collegeland by 6 points to 2 over the next 20 minutes. Buncrana had a good cushion at the final whistle; Buncrana 1-14 Collegeland 0-9. Buncrana will now face Rock St Patricks of Tyrone, with the venue, date and time to be confirmed, in the Ulster Junior Club Semi Final. Rock had a runaway win in Glack (Derry Champions) on a 0-6 to 2-15 scoreline. Elsewhere in the Ulster Junior championship Blackhill and Killinkere progressed to the other semi-final with wins over Maguiresbridge and Bright, respectively.
