U16 Hurling

The u16 hurlers clinched yet another county title in the Convoy centre of excellence on Thursday last. The game itself was played in ideal conditions. Buncrana controlled the game from the throw in against a determined and well improved St Eunans side, most pleasing for the manager Tom Clare would have been the performance of Keeper Darren Fitzpatrick, Full back Patrick Wilson how was ably assisted by James Doherty, and Paul Tourish, halfback Kevin Vaughan had a game to remember, Team captain Declan mc Carron and midfield partner Dylan Duffy worked hard throughout and were a platform for most attacks. The return of Ben Doherty(roe) after a lengthy hip injury and the second half performance of a young Oisin (roe) Doherty will have pleased management also and will strengthen the squad again for the Championship that starts in 2 weeks time. The bulk of this squad will form the spine of our minor team who will play their replay on Thursday 28th Aug (venue to be confirmed) and will also be the backbone of the county u15 and u16 squads who will head to Newry Co,Down on Saturday 30 Aug to take part in the All Ireland Blitzs and no doubt do their county proud.

U13 Football

Last Wednesday night our U13’s travelled to Mac Chumhaill Pairc in Ballybofey for their 2nd division 1 game of the season. They had a full squad and the competition for the team was high. The starting team played very well sending them into the second half with a great lead. Joseph Mc Granra had a few great saves, with Keith Elliot and Sean Doherty keeping Mac Chumhaill’s forwards at bay. Matthew Mulholland, Michael Bernard Mc Laughlin and Adam Curran having a few great scores. The team played really well together from start to finish letting the younger players have a run out and giving them a chance to shine as well. At the end of the game Buncrana won 5-13 to 3-11. Well done to all the lads for their great performances and good luck to them on Wednesday night when they travel to Robert Emmets.

U15 Og Sport

Buncrana lost their opening game to Ardara before losing to eventual winners St Eunans Boys tried hard but didn’t perform to their usual high standards on the day.

U12 Girls Football

A massive well done to our u12s girls, these girls might be small in stature but they have the biggest hearts! Playing in a blitz away in Eoghan Rua, Coleraine, each and every single one of them put in an outstanding performance and came a…way winning 3 games out of 3! Only 3 of these girls are overage next year and a lot of them are still u10 so they will a force to be reckoned with in a few years!! The girls beat Eoghan Rua by 3 points, beat steelstown by a point and beat limavady by a gigantic scoreline!! Team: Paige Ferguson, Arlene Hegarty, Jenny Doherty, Orlaith Doherty, Beth Doherty, Brianna Doherty, Molly Boyd, Cliona Doherty, Katelyn Doherty and Sarah Carey.
