Buncrana GAA Notes for Week Ending Sunday 1st March 2015

Donegal GAA Championship Intermediate draws

The Championship draw which was held at the weekend sees Buncrana in the same group as Aodh Ruadh, who we will play away in our opening game, Naomh Naille and Naomh Colmcille.

Senior Ladies Football

Buncrana Ladies had an excellent day at the Crossmaglen Sevens. Playing against top quality teams they reached the shield semi-final before going down to Donaghmore, a team that has won All Ireland club senior titles. No mean achievement! Well done to all the panel: Amy Casey, Lauren Hegarty, Deirdre Grant, Claire Doherty, Sarah Barnett, Mary McKinney, Louise Devlin, Paula McGrory, Allison McGonigle, Doreen Friel, Orlando Birch and coach Lawrence Hegarty. Many thanks to Crossmaglen for their hospitality on the day.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig

The Club is organizing some events for Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patrick’s Day. Anyone interested in getting involved should contact Deirdre or Grainne or email buncrana.pro@gmail.com .

Club Lotto

The numbers drawn for this week were 22, 24, 30, and 31. As there was no winner we then held the monthly draw for €500 and the winner was….our very own Grainne Mc Carron! Congratulations Grainne…..Next week’s Jackpot will now be €5025

Just to remind you, the Lotto is the main source of funding for the club, it’s the means by which we pay our bills and keep our teams on the road. We are really grateful to everyone who buys or sells Lotto’s for us but it would help greatly if more people, particularly parents of the many kids the Club caters for, would volunteer an hour a week to sell Lotto’s for us…not every week, just one week in the year. Surely that’s not too much to ask…is it?

Irish Echo ‘40 under 40’ Awards

John McCarter would like to thank all of you who supported and voted for his daughter Jane in this prestigious competition recently. Jane came close to winning, coming second in the end, but it helped promote the work she is doing in New York’s Irish Centre and the town too.

Underage News

Bord na nOg
