Broadcast media updating all Round 4 Senior and Intermediate championship games this weekend – at least nine games being live streamed

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Fri 21st Aug

There are no spectators allowed at this weekend’s Championship games in Donegal and while there is nothing beats “Being There” broadcast media and many of the clubs themselves are stepping up to keep fans updated. At least eight games are being streamed live and it is hoped this total will be added to over the next two days. Donegal GAA is lucky to enjoy three locally-focused radio stations that have proven time and again their dedication to covering Gaelic games. This coming weekend, there will be regular updates (and in some cases Live Commentary) on all Senior and Intermediate Championship fixtures.

All eight matches in Round 4 of the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Senior Championship this weekend are on Sunday at 3.00, with the six Intermediate games played simultaneously on Saturday evening at 6.30. This is not the final round of the Junior Championship so they will be spread over Saturday and Sunday. All three local radio stations are providing either live commentary or regular updates on the eight Senior Championship matches on Sunday. Radio na Gaeltachta are also covering all of the Intermediate championship games on Saturday evening with Live Commentary on Cloich Cheann Fhaola v Naomh Bríd. Ocean FM will be providing regular updates on the Fanad Gaels game with Aodh Ruadh and An Bheart v Naomh Columba. We also welcome BBC and RTE Sport who are also covering two of our Senior Championship games.

On Sunday, five Senior Championship games are being streamed live by either Official Donegal or by one of the clubs involved. On Saturday evening two Intermediate Championship games (and a third is pending) are being streamed live, as is one in the Junior Championship on Sunday afternoon. The St Eunans v St Michaels game is a pilot streaming for CLG Dhún na nGall ahead of their coverage of the knockout games and there will also be a downloadable programme available from DonegalGAA.ie before the game on Sunday afternoon.

Live streamed matches include:

Most clubs will also be tweeting live on the progress of their games and @OfficialDonegal will be re-tweeting half-time and full-time results where possible. Other media outlets around the County will also be supplying score updates on social media from all games as well as timely post-match reports and reactions from players and management at a selection of games. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all media in Donegal for their dedicated efforts to helping to promote our games, especially now that they are all behind closed doors.
